Me and JB discover a new bit that I really like, but we might have run it to the ground. I catch JB up on the differences of the movie and book of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. We then talk about Hail Ceasar! (and discover gold). Then JB surprises me with Sinners talk! This is good, good for us everywhere.
One paragraph you sent me. You didn't? Where you said like oh the paragraph is starts as dumb.
SPEAKER_02And I was just like, I don't know. That par that paragraph I sent you was a paragraph.
SPEAKER_03I I saw the f uh because it's the 44 ignited. Yeah. And then I literally did not read any further.
SPEAKER_00But if you read it, yeah you would Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh I was gonna make you re I just want to pull it out.
SPEAKER_01It was him shooting Jesse. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I figured. Oh, okay. But um And then you told me you told me it goes into more detail. You told me about the wife and like how it's how they 'cause they're first cousins and you said it goes further into their love story kind of thing.
SPEAKER_02He got sick during the Civil War and they kind of left his ass. He got shot, right? Yes.
SPEAKER_03Does it go into that or no? Or does it say that it's got shot?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he got shot during a skirmish or whatever, and he got like ammonia, and then they were like, this kid's probably gonna fucking die, just send his ass home to hospice, and then his mom couldn't really take care of him, and so they're that's why they were just like, Here, your cousin, who has the same name as your mom, Zerelda, Z like Z, uh, is gonna take care of you. And then, like, apparently while she was taking care of him, she just fucking fell in love with him, dog, and she was like, Yo, he makes me feel like the bestest thing ever, and like it's actually like really weird and kind of sweet. Like the the book is all like, oh, she Are they first cousins? They are first cousins. Okay. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_03That's a little that's bad, no?
SPEAKER_02That's I mean it could be for genetic wise. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's that yeah, that's what I mean. Like, I mean, it's illegal now, right? I assume it wasn't the question, is it? I think it's illegal now. That's crazy. But I don't I assume it wasn't illegal then.
SPEAKER_02No, because they got married. Well, I mean he's a dog who cares a f yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's killed people. Yeah, he's killed people. Does it go into the fact that he was um like a southern loyalist?
SPEAKER_02It does it does talk about that. That's why they're like he was on the um he kind of liked the narrator touches on that.
SPEAKER_03He says he's a southern loyalist and like a war that was never done or something, or not war that's not over.
SPEAKER_02But it's also partially because for his ass he got kicked out of the war because he was fucking too sick. That's what they that's what they're doing. Okay, so that's where and that's why they're talking about like, well, maybe he had some leftover frustration and that's why he started robbing and banking, like robbing stuff.
SPEAKER_03That's actually because I've seen a documentary on him, and that was it, was that like the whole like his targets or his targets were these like union bangs. These union targets that would actually affect the the the other side. Yeah, and so that's why he sp spun around sometimes or like he's he's spun into this sort of Robin Hood type of figure. Because apparently there's a story that he robbed somebody and he found out that that person was on the south side and he gave him back his watch. I think it was a watch. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02It does get brought up in the book because it goes through all the different robberies basically, and it mentions them. So that's why it's like so it does start with the blue cut one, just like the movie. It just drops us into the blue cut. It does not include the dialogue that the movie uh included, and you know how all the guys are sitting together and he's like, Poetry don't work on horrors and all that.
SPEAKER_03That's not even the t not even the sub the conversation between Robert and his brother? Yes, that is Robert and Jesse's brother.
SPEAKER_02Robert and Frank conversation is in there, Robert and Jesse conversation, and then the three of them around real quick where he was just like, Well, he gives me the willies, and he's like, Well, he's gonna come with me or whatever. And uh, but the stuff about the side characters with Dick Little and Wood Height, that that doesn't happen. Uh the entire the entire Dick Little banging Wood Height stepmom plot, they it's a whole affair that carries on for weeks. Okay. And instead of just once fucking like one time and they get in a scuffle, it's like they get in a fight the next morning, he gets they shoot at each other, and then Dick Little leaves and runs away. But then he ends up like he just take he leap he fucking it's all like, oh, Dick Little got an apartment on top of a blacksmith shop and became like the apprentice for him, and there was a signal, and they would and the and Wood Height's stepmom would send like one of their slaves, or I don't think because he wasn't a slave then it was after Civil War, but one of the like the their colored hands that they have like in the black guy that worked for them, like it calls him that they said, Oh, they sent like he fucking in the book he even sends like oh they sent one of their colors, like just the color I was like, Oh now okay guy, like chill go, but in the movie she um they ask her about um if she cooked this and she says the end of the wheel.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have a woman, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then so so they do have like some freaking black servants, and so she sends one of the guys to be he's the one that goes to the what's the the blacksmith's window, knocks on it, and the blacksmith bangs on the roof because the guy's above him is like, okay, you gotta go fuck. And then he No, he literally he beats his head out the window, and and then the freaking the manservant's like by the creek at nine o'clock, and then like he's gotta go to the creek by nine o'clock, it's like a fuck, and it's like, and so he has an affair with her for weeks. Okay, and so that's why uh so like weeks of that happen, and what makes it stop is that Wood kills the black guy. So Wood kills him, and then he goes to jail for that murder because he tells he meets up with that wife like one last time and he tells her, like, dude, Wood fucking killed like the servant, like, and she's like, Oh my god, I know he's fucking crazy, and then he's like, like, fucking let's get his ass in jail. They get him in jail, and he busts out of jail, and then he comes after Dick Little at the Fords farm, kinda, and it's this whole and it that's why it became So the it's so it's basically in the movie it shows like the first bang.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's and then it c it's like And then whatever happens, it I don't know if it's immediately after or whatever, but it cuts the next thing. He's out of prison and he's after him. Yeah, but it's not all that and they don't even mention it.
SPEAKER_02And they don't even mention the fucking the man service.
SPEAKER_03I feel like they could have added that in the scene. I feel like they could have put that in the movie somehow.
SPEAKER_02I it's already two hours and forty minutes, bro. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, that's true, and I'm and I am very against long enemies. I try to be.
SPEAKER_02So that's why it's like But I'm okay with this movie. Okay. You wanted all the information.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean this just There's supposedly a four-hour cut. If I don't know if that's yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_02It probably has that. It probably has Okay, I'll get to that. But yeah, um Let me keep track of the some differences in the JJ thing. Uh-huh. So that's why the wood wood dick thing. Um at some point, like after the wood height stuff, like it happens, like all the Ford family members kind of cover up the murder. Uh Jesse does come uh after fucking with the cousin Albert, like, where's Jim? Where's Jim? That does happen in the book. They do even talk about, like, hey, he was crying afterwards. Uh, but Dick Little apologizes to the mom of that boy and the sister and was like, I'm sorry, and then he just leaves. Oh, okay. And uh, and then um but yes, eventually, like when Dick Little's chilling at the Ford at the sister's sister Ford's house, Martha Ford or whatever, uh him and Bob were in town and they got visited by like some fucking private eye sheriff who's who's just scoping out everybody, and he's like, Oh, your name's Clarence Woodard or whatever, because Dick Little gives a fake name, Bob Ford gives his real name, and they're just talking. And then that guy puts it in his head that oh, the governor's going for like a a bounty of five thousand dollars for any man that could turn in Jesse James or any information about his gang, and leading to a capture of his gang members, like five thousand for Jesse and like three thousand for any other of the other members or whatever. Okay. And uh and then it it uh that's what it talks about how from there Bob then kind of gets it in his head that he's they're kinda scared about Jesse uh coming after him because of this. And then all at the same time too, there was that I was thinking I was telling you about where uh there was another incident between one uh it's uh like one of Bob Ford's uncles and uh Jesse's stepbrother. Okay. So like he showed up at Christmas all fucking drunk with some fucking delinquent fools and they were talking a bunch of shit or whatever, and then him and like Bob Ford's uncle kinda get into a fist fight, and then it turns into a gunfight, and then apparently like they they kinda hit Jesse's stepbrother in a way where he's like in a hospital bed, he might be dying, he might not be. So then that makes Bob think also that he's gonna come after all my family because of this, and then plus if he finds about his cousin Wood, and then he also got into his head that maybe this family's not as invincible because he was like, Oh, his stepbrother got hurt, but then it's like so that's like it talks about that's kind of making Bob think about it, and Bob does turn in Dick Little at the sheriff. Oh, yeah. So the way they show up at his and he doesn't tell Dick about it, he turns him in, but he does it in such a low-key way that he tells the sheriff, please like don't tell him I turned him in, like I still want to maintain like my cover basically. And the sheriff's like, Don't worry, I will. And he did such a good job, like it was actually uh it's fucked up because Dick Little still trusts Bob and he was like, I'll go turn myself like like I'll turn myself in with Bob and like I want him to be there, like in the courtroom with me type shit. Like he wanted he's like, he's my buddy or whatever, and so and so fucking Bob Fort went along with it. And that's why that scene in that movie when they're eventually like it's fucking weird because at first Bob shows up and dude there's a whole other like side little pot where he he shows up to the sheriff's house to try and make some of the deals, like some of the beginning talk and making this deal, you know? Like it would happen before he meets the governor. Okay. So like he meets one of those sheriffs. Like one of those guys I told you, like one of them I think was like the Don Johnson looking motherfucker, and the other one I said was uh the it's um it's Buffalo Bill from Towns of the Lambs. Yeah, I think it's like I think it's like I think the character is the Buffalo Bill. He's the sheriff. I think that's Timberlake because there's a sheriff Timberlake and a Sheriff Craig or Marshall Craig that are mentioned a lot, and those are the two guys that were kind of the in-between for the deal with the government. With the government, okay. And so it's like I think they're just shown real quick in the movie, but in reality, one of them has a lot more interaction with Bob Ford. Because that's he's the one that comes and visits him in the in the market. Remember how he talks like he comes to visit him in the market, and we're talking about how the it's just lit by the crack in the door, and that's the only light on the thing.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that that happens in the book too, and they even make it sound all cinema and shit like that. Like it's fucking cool. Um But uh he at some point Bob Ford comes to him and talks about their dill, and it they make a point about it, because the dude's taking a bath, and Bob Ford's like, Can I get in that bath after you? Like, I'm cold out here, and you know, it's cold because it's winter time or whatever. And so he fucking takes a bath in front of this man, like this man's bathing in front of him and he bathes like after, and they just talk about the dill and shit. And then he has no clothes and he takes the sheriff's underwear. He takes the sheriff's underwear like it's some of his clean fucking underwear in the drawer, like after the sheriff leaves the room, he just jacks his shit, you know. And and uh and apparent and then like that matters because like the day before he shoots Jesse, I think he's taking a bath or he's washing his clothes, and he's like, Who's HC? But it's Henry Craig, it's a sheriff. And so he actually fucking Jesse actually sees the underwear of the sheriff that fucking Bob was wearing, like all these weeks later type shit. And like it was like I was like, oh fuck, that's an extra little layer of intrigue. But like, I mean of course, like, but it was another thing that put Jesse kind of on the thing, and and it's like, what the and it was just a weird little detail that he incorporated, but it's like that's how kind of crazy Ford was in that this fucking time. He really thought he's gonna get his applause type shit. And uh, so then that whole process kind of happens the same. Uh he tried to introduce himself to the governor, and the governor's like, he sent me a letter saying he wants to rip my guts out, and you know, he's heart or something, right? Yeah, and uh and something's gotta be done about him, you know, like we cannot not do something about fucking Jesse James and his gang. And so that's why they're all like, okay, like I think I know where he's at. Getting dark. Cool. Uh he's like, I think I know where he's at. Maybe I'll tell you, and they're like, What about you? How do you know? Are you in his gang? He's like, No, but my brother's in his gang, like I'm just a good little noodle, you know, and they maintain that for a while. Like, and uh, so it's like they never they didn't really realize he took part in the blue cut robbery, because Bob Ford took part in the blue cut robbery, but he tells them, like, no, like my brother was the one in the in the Jesse gang, not me. But like, but his jess his brother didn't really get in trouble because by then they're the ones that shoot him and stuff. So, but then there's uh but that's like the story that the people are telling after the shot and stuff. So the after he shoots? After he shoots Jesse. Okay, okay. And um, so it goes into that, it kind of still follows about how uh his brother and Jesse went off for a while, and then when he came when he came back.
SPEAKER_03When he's like working in like a shop, right? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Uh uh. Yeah. He's working at a shop. Yep. And then he's kind of making the plan. And then that's when he they have their version in the book about like when they're talking to each other and they come back, and Jesse's like, You don't go nowhere without me no more. Like that's in the book? That's in the book. But instead of him, like them walking outside, like it's like they walk back inside the church building and he's just standing in the pulpit like a preacher, and then he's all like, You don't go nowhere without me, and stuff like that. And so it was like, okay, a little fucking little visual, that'd be cool. And uh and then the same thing happens where he he fucks with him and yanks his head back. Oh, with the knife, right?
SPEAKER_03And then does that big fake laugh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then it it scares his brother, and his brother really thought he was gonna die, and like they do that part. Um what ha the another big a lot of what this goes into is the all the details following the days immediately after the shot. Oh, okay. Because it's fucking it's a whirlwind. Z is their present. Jesse's mom is a huge presence, and they talk about okay, Jesse's mom story is insane because at some point during the Civil War, the Union soldiers came after Jesse's family, like, or they like I don't even think they knew it was Jesse James' house. It was just Union soldiers that were attacking southern plantations or whatever, and they strung up his stepdad in a tree, like they're like they were they hung him for a little bit, but not till death, and then they cut and then there was a gunfight, and his mom lost her hand in during the battle of the gunfight. So his mom was some fucking she was tall, she was a six-foot-tall woman, apparently like a one-hand fucking lady. And how when she like she was some fucking badass Christmas, she but but every time she would see Jesse, she'd be like, Oh my god, my baby boy, I don't want you to die. Like, I'm so scared to lose you, and like like he would like she would make him kiss him on the lips, and like as a grown man, 34 years of age, type stuff, because that's what they talked about that Charlie Ford witnessed at Christmas time. Yeah, okay. Like they they had a little bit of relationship, and he was like, Mama, I might never see you again. And she's like, Why would you say that? And like he did it on purpose to fuck with her, kinda and then he's like, Okay, we out, and then but like, but they talked about like his mom went through some fucking shit, bro. Like, and like Wow, yeah, dude. And so, like, even Jesse's stepdad, because he he suffered brain damage from being hung a little bit, because either he got sh cut down or shot down because a gunfight was there or whatever, or they just did it for a semi-punch, but that's like they talked about how he kind of started going crazy from that, like it did change his men his behavior because his fucking brain got damaged type shit, and and so like um so he didn't come to the town, but then like Jesse's mom and his wife came to the town as like there was a whole thing too where they were like, Well, technically this fucking dude shot somebody for no reason, really, and so the the Fords were all like it was self-defense, it was self-defense, you know, like he was gonna kill us, we had to do it, we feared for our lives, and then like there was a lot of and then immediately people were calling them cowards already, and like we shot him in the back, and then like they talk about how they actually kind of did arrest the boys because they had to wait for those other sheriffs to come to town. Cause there was this whole thing where I remember how they talked about like oh Jesse talked about robbing this thing, but there was never gonna be another robbery. No uh they talk about how like Bob Ford, like, he was like, Oh, Jesse's planning on robbing this bank. I think he's gonna kill me, my brother, or or one of us during like during this or before after. So the cops went to go that bank, they went to that bank to like fucking get ready to catch him, but then by then he was like, Never mind, I shot Jesse. So then all the cops had to come back via train to the fucking city where they were at. And so like they talk about how they kind of they arrested the guys, but they kept them in the courtroom because everybody was trying to come get 'em and like either talk to them or see them or just talk shit at them, and people were already it was just crowds and people coming and ransacking the house already once they find out, once they realize it was Jesse James, like just immediate days after. Yeah. And like the immediate days after, and poor Z was out of it. Um they had like mini court hearing, like like the next day type shit. They all met up in a barn. And there was a lawyer there, and they were just like, Why'd you do it, son? Like, what happened? Talk us through it. And then that's when he was like, I fear for my lives. Uh I kinda had to deal with the governor, like, and they were like, What? And so there was this whole thing too about like the governor started getting shaked because they're like, Did you order this fucking kid to kill this, you know, to kill somebody technically? And then there was all about like would the governor order the deal uh honor the deal or not? So for like two weeks they were kinda held in jail before the fucking governor like confirmed the confirmed their deal and like let them go, basically got the pardon and stuff. And so like there was like a mini courtroom hearing and like Jesse's mom and his wife were there and she was like, These cowards killed my boy, like fuck them, they should burn, you know, like get their asses, you know, like so she went off in court and and it talks about how like Charlie was just feel he felt like shit, he was slumping in his chair. It was talking about how Bob was trying to he smiled because he wanted to seem like he was being nonchalant, but it came off fucking ass. Yes, it literally said arrogant, bro. Exactly, yeah. Because I was just like, I'm picturing Cassie Casey Affleck's little fucking ass doing shit. So creepy looking. I see this little twerp being a twerp, they would totally think he's being a torped uh but the book mentions it even and uh and so they even talk about you know how they always reenact it on stage. So before they officially got hired by an actual theater production and toured within went to New York, they fucking had him reenact it like in the town theater real quick. They brought him out of jail like a week in real quick and was like, show everybody how you did it or what happened, and they fucking reenact it in front of the local town people, and then they got lap up. Like it happens before they get hired officially to do that shit on Broadway. And they even talk about uh in that time Charlie was he could he was so nervous to do it or whatever, but they literally gave him here, here's empty guns, just go up there and and click, and he can fucking click with the real gun instead of like a theater gun type shit, and like just they redid it like that already, bro. And and then so then of course it goes on about how eventually the man who who wants to hire them for the theater company, uh-huh, and then by then they've been pardoned and they they left that town. Um, and it talks about how kind of wherever town they go to they they don't they're not allowed long kind of thing, like they just get shit talked or whatever, so try to keep low profiles. Not really welcome, right? Yeah, and then they so but then they join the theater company and then that's why they just go around touring it and then they're still kind of welcome. And they do mention about how when he's doing the the show and somebody calls him a coward and he hops on the stage and starts fighting some bitches. Like they they bring that up. How that so that happens, yeah.
SPEAKER_03In the book at least, right? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And then uh they talk about how Charlie really was really bad at acting and he was super nervous and just they were like, just throw up outside. At least that's all you have to do, bro. Just throw don't throw up inside. Yeah, just throw up outside. Uh they talk about how they had a woman who played the wife too, so she would come in and start screaming and it was all That's in the movie too.
SPEAKER_03Okay, that is in that one? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah. But then okay, but yeah, but they they g they give her a name. Like she was in the life later. Okay, okay, okay, so okay. They give like names, yeah. Um and then so what's crazy though is they actually go into a lot more detail about Bob's life in Colorado. So like after his brother kills himself, because that's where he died, he died on Colorado Way. And uh okay. Yes, and they talk about how he he actually was a lot of people he would couldn't stay long in places, they would run him out of town kinda, or he would just not be welcomed. Uh he uh he tried to go to a s he tried to build up a saloon in one town and some people wouldn't go to it, and then he left and went he went to another town that was starting up. And then that one, since it was more further away, people gave less of a fuck, and he he did a really he tried to be a really good businessman, entrepreneur, and he ended up building a name and a good reputation in this fucking town, and he owned like couple businesses, and he was like the girls could prostitute upstairs type shit, or they could just be server girls and be like fun vibe, you know, vibe curators, basically. Or they could fuck if they want, but they talk about how he was good to the ladies that worked for him. Um there's interesting though, I don't I should have I wanted to look up um Zoe De Chanel's name of the character she plays. Because they talk about how there's two different women that kind of came into his life at the end. So the one that he kind of common-law married, which I think is meant to be the Zoe De Chanel, because the same thing.
SPEAKER_03She just came up, she I think she's just called Z or something, isn't she? Or something called Z. Yeah, yeah, but there's something hers is with the z maybe I'm just thinking Zoe De Chanel.
SPEAKER_02I think you are, but I think you are King. Uh but so but it's crazy because so they talk about how they kind of relationship, they talk about how sometimes he his he sometimes he tries to be friendly, but he can be quick to anger, or sometimes he gets like melancholy moods and stuff and shit like that. And so he one time he was he was they were fighting and she kind of left him and stuff, and then they talk about how he met this like there was a f uh dude, okay. Actually, no. It's even crazier, there's a whole other third act where there's this there's this fucking con man, like a piece of shit guy who comes into town and he decides he and fucking Bob Ford end up becoming enemies. But like this guy ends up becoming mayor of the town and has his all cronies be the sheriff and deputies. So like it ends up becoming him against like a corrupt system real quick somehow. Like it's fucking it's it's wild, but really it's just like business owners fucking fighting each other because Yeah. And it's like eventually they burn Bob's bar down, and so like cause Bob didn't want to fucking he's like, I ain't cowtowning to you kind of shit. Like, fuck you guys, you know. And um but they didn't do any actual gunfighting, but they burn his bar down. Uh I think he builds up a tent again. He builds up like a good tent system, and I think it's the like the white tent we see in the movie. Like that was his that was like that was um that was his most productive thing because he made a fancy fucking tent and it was big enough that people could dance, and then there's all the little tents where people can fuck if they want a prostitute or not. And then it's like and that shit was just luxurious and pro and profitable. And then there was this thing that happened where I think it was like some town charter or they were trying to vote on some. Shit, but like uh or it might have been just even after he burned his bar, like the piece of shit con man that took over the city basically. Uh like it's like it's cra like he just has this crazy death with this guy, and uh he um Bob ends up uh he gets drunk one night and he shoots all the the fucking lampposts in town and this pain and like and since it's like fucking 18 like 70 something and it's like this is in Colorado, like the edge of the west right now, type shit. It's like it's really hard for us to have street lamps right now, and this motherfucker shot like 17 of them, you know, like and then he got and he was so and then what they did is they ended up they all made like a fucking letter and kicked him out of town. And they're like, if you come back, you'll be hanged. And so he got kicked out of town, like officially, and shit. Okay, and he literally felt so bad and he wrote a letter and he's like, Please let me bank, I'm sorry, and he's like, Alright, you can come back. And then he kind of gets to rebuild himself up again a little bit. And then um it talks about how there was this guy who was kind of beefing with with with Bob before, it's a different guy who's different, not the con man. Not the con man. But it's kinda like he came to Bob's bar and tried to start some shit, and Bob like smacked him around a little bit, kicked him out. But then that guy, he goes to the con man, the con man makes him like he became sheriff of another little fucking out west town. Somewhere else, okay. Yeah, so that guy became a sheriff and he comes and meets up with the con man, and it's the con man that puts him up to killing Bob basically.
SPEAKER_03And that's the guy who killed him. That's guy who kills Bob.
SPEAKER_02It's just some random dude that Bob did beef with like a couple years back. And then he came back again, and then he was like, Man, get the fuck out of here. And then like they talk about how he worked with this fucking French Canadian guy, whatever, big whatever, to saw off the shotgun. And he didn't put quarters in it, he puts like screws and shit in it. That's what they because you know how in the movie they talk about that's the best dollar something I ever spent, right? Oh yeah, it's not like quarter shot, it's like a fucking shit and they just put it. Yeah, like they went to a blacksmith and they put like little shit and spice in there, and then they fucking put more gunpowder, extra gunpowder in there to make it fucking, you know, to blow all the shit up. So they got him and then like a couple other people black kind of shit. But yeah, that's the guy that killed fucking Bob. Oh, but then that's why I meant that there was two ladies. There was like a second lady who, like, you're Bob Ford, ain't ya? Like, I come out here to try to make a living, and you know he was like, You're a sweet girl, like don't try to prostitute for me and stuff. And then, like, apparently, like, that night after meeting him and talking to him, he made her so sad she fucking got heroin and OD and heroin and died. Oh shit. Yeah, dude. And it was like the fuck? Yeah, so even he felt bad about that, and he was like, Oh damn, like Tam, I really am pathetic.
SPEAKER_00Kinda, yeah, dude, there's a little bit about that.
SPEAKER_02But I think it was the other woman is the one he's he told her about, like, I was young and I thought I'd get applause and stuff. Because that that's not a good one. Okay, okay, yeah, I want that like that conversation. How does that work? It still happens basically because she's like, like, what happened? And then like he tells her about it and stuff. And then uh I think the girl that commits suicide even asked about like what was Jesse like or something, and Bob gives like some fucking poetry ass answering poetry don't work on whores and she fucking killed herself. Yeah, and it was just like, oh shit, but uh I guess she wasn't a whore, that's why it didn't work either. She wasn't a whore, because she didn't she was about to start prostituting because she was looking for a job. Because she literally was like, Oh, I just went out west, I was back from back east, and I went out west because I heard that you made a name for yourself, so I thought I could make a name for myself. Like a good name, like the because this was when this is when Bob was doing good. Yeah, that's but she knows that he killed Jesse and then he asked and then he gave her such a fucking depressing answer that she was like, damn, Don. Like he was like, You probably shouldn't have come out here, like it's it sucks out here. And then she was like, damn, Don't. Damn, I shouldn't have come out here, it sucks out here. Basically, so yeah. Uh and then yeah, and then it it just it literally just fucking ends, like the life fled out of Robert Ford, and then just cuts the fucking credits, bro. Just like that. And so I was just like, oh fuck. But yeah, I was like, okay, it was worth the read. I got a little bit more from the experience. I feel like there's a lot more, honestly. Yeah, there is.
SPEAKER_03Especially after the assassination. Yes, like it really breaks down the details where it's like they might have actually gone to jail, they didn't know what was gonna happen. Yeah, that, and then not only that, but like the move uh the actual person who kills Bob, they make it sound like he had no connection to Bob whatsoever, and he just wanted to make a name for himself and get runs. Because I think that's what they say, actually. Yeah, like he's one of the main things. So that whole like beef prior and then this whole con man thing, too. Yeah, collaborating with the other con man, yeah, yeah. I think it was wild.
SPEAKER_02Like that con man really put him up like to to it. He kind of egged on the guy to shoot Bob basically.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he was fucking like, what the fuck? Yeah, but it was just like, dude, like like Bob was kind of a little bit of of a good guy at the end there. Yeah. A little bit and then like, but he did fuck up when he shot at a goddamn lamppost, you know, dude. Yeah. He took it out in the town, and it's like if he didn't do that, he might have been able to have it. He would have been able, yeah. But he was literally just trying to be like, I'm not gonna fucking pay you taxes, type shit, because this dude, like, this other comment like literally took over the town and like promoted his people to like positions of power. Yeah. And he was just like, what the fuck? Okay, Bob, for fucking free enterprise in the wild west. Uh but yeah, so yeah, I was just like, okay, Bob, and then but other than that, yeah, still fucking good. It does a good job. And K it is like KZ like did a really great fucking job of being somebody who is fascinated by a famous figure, genuinely like is interested and then is genuinely betrayed by them or feels betrayed by them, and it's so much in a sense that he's willing to fucking kill the celebrity that he lived up to, I guess. Because eventually he did turn it was fear, and like he says, I guess he thought applause and stuff. Yeah. But when they talk about how that story about that kid that like, oh uh, this man joined my gang to join my gang and we all shot him because he was gonna kill me because I'm gonna get away.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, like he didn't know that I knew type. Right when he's uh at the dinner say dinner scene at the dinner table. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Like he talks about how he doesn't want to he didn't like that happening. Like I he really didn't mean I don't think he meant in he went in with that intention at all. He really was trying to be cool with Jesse at first. Until until he just found out the despos the deposition of Jesse. Because they the book really does talk about like the motherfucker was a little out there. Like for real, for real, like he was out there. Like, and again, Brad Pitt did a great job too, being a motherfucker who's out there, I guess. Like who he got the because they do talk about how Jesse's kinda had is kinda handsome fucking but he could turn so nasty. I got my main streak, and that's how we get things nasty. But yeah, it is fucking it was fucking good, bro. Uh hey, hey everybody, Eric from Pumethi Eric with the craziest longest intro ever. That's the intro. That's the intro, dude. We just jumped right into talking about the differences of assassination and Jesse James by the Robert by the Robert Coward. Coward Ford. By the coward Robert Ford. The book adaptation bit of a tomb twister, huh? Fuck yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_03Uh just so. Oh, real quick, back to uh the book. Okay. Is dude does it talk about uh fuck, what was I gonna ask? These nuts. Dude got in. Uh fuck, never mind. I forgot what I was gonna ask. Damn. Okay, if it comes back out, I'm trying to just think, oh, yeah, whatever.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Uh yeah, you did a good job. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Thank you, yeah. Bro! We just watched Hail Caesar. Pretty good! Pretty, pretty good. Pretty good. I know you uh love this movie.
SPEAKER_00I love this movie.
SPEAKER_03I would say I don't love it. That's okay. I like it. I liked it enough to watch it again.
SPEAKER_02This is the perfect balance because you love burn after reading and I like it. I love this one and you like it. Like Yeah. I was talking about it.
SPEAKER_03But it except for me, I'm right on both accounts and you're wrong on both accounts. You're wrong for not loving burn after reading, and you're wrong for I'm just kidding. He's not kidding, you guys. He doesn't want to just say. Oh no, yeah, if you are against my opinion, that is incorrect.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Even if your opinion's incorrect. My opinion can't be. That's true. That's not even new. It's not it's not a truth. Uh yeah, watching. Hail Kaisar. Hail Caesar. Halel. I was trying to say Hail Funny too, because we're saying Caesar funny. Well, I said it like Fallout New Vegas. You did. Bro, they were filming season three in Pomona. In Pomona, dude, yeah, I saw it. I should have told you, let's go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, when I had I think you sent it to me and like, oh, I'm so hyped for this. And then I was looking at it and cause it was uh Walter Goggins, he's like talking to people and he's like ripping off his shit. And then I was reading the comments and I was like, oh yeah, he's uh they're gone already. Fuuuuu! Okay, yeah. Well I'm glad that I'm glad that's the one. That's cool.
SPEAKER_02That's cool. I was about to go over there like sometimes. Oh really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03There was people over there. He was surrounded by a crowd.
SPEAKER_02My and my cousin, uh my cousin, she went through the set like at night, and so like the actors weren't there, but look, it was still dressed up like that, like during the night. Because I think they're there for like at least three nights or three days. Yeah, and I was like, fuuuuu. Yeah, I should have went. That's pretty cool. That was super cool. But yes, okay, hail Kaisers. Hail Caesar. Mm-hmm. Fucking do okay. I will just read my notes. I'll read them word for word when we get to them. But Okay, yeah. Like, okay. Well, I figure your notes are they're kind of in order, but then I even this one I took more notes in the beginning. The first note here was not till the requine with the liar. Recoin requine on the liar. No, requine with the liar, yeah. Yeah. Fucking I just I love the way they say it. Some of the things that just get said in this, that's why I dude like I'm telling you, watching this movie, that's how I felt watching Burn After Reading with you, mister, because you were just laughing at certain lines and you were just saying the same lines along.
SPEAKER_03Oh my goodness, bro.
SPEAKER_02And like it's so funny the way I was doing it today, too. Yeah, yeah, you were.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was watching it with you was a was it was a fun experience in itself because like I didn't really appreciate the jokes. And it's like you would laugh, you you were laughing too much.
SPEAKER_02And then I was like, I was telling you, they're just random visual gags. And I feel like they're just they're kind of doing it on purpose or just like, or even just goofy ass shit. Like even just I I like the dickhead thing. Oh, no, I I think we should explain that. We will. Um, you want to go more in order? Above his head. I'm just kidding. No, but I kind of was going to, but no, you're because like I don't even know how many people know this, because like you said, did this do really well? I don't know. Yeah. But this is this follows Josh Brolin being Eddie Mannix, 1951. He's like a studio executive at a movie studio. Yeah. And he's but he's more like a problem solver and he just solves everybody's problems or fixer.
SPEAKER_03He's like, Everybody goes to him. Yeah. And he's like, he has to deal with all the situations. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He has to deal with all the problems. He has to go with the directors and the stars, and he talks to the money man back in New York, Mr. Skank. Oh, that's what I was gonna say too. Well, I mean when we get there, but like, but yeah, so he just handles people's problems. He has to he has to deal with the starlet who's pregnant but doesn't want to get married, and and the fun the she can't marry the father of her children. Wait, she's pregnant right now? Scarlet Johansson. No, what are you talking about? No, Scarlet Johansson was pregnant. That was the whole point of her character. She has a kid, no? No, she's pregnant right then. Oh, okay. I thought she had a kid. No, that's why she's saying next year, next week I probably won't be able to fit in the fish ass. Oh, okay. Because she's pregnant, she might start showing. And then that's why he was like, we'll film this, we'll film that. Next week we'll get it.
SPEAKER_03That makes a lot more sense with the whole like adopting your fucking child. Yes. And like marriage. Like they don't know that she has a kid yet. Yes. Okay, it totally makes more sense.
SPEAKER_02Ah, okay. That's why it'll turn off your image, and that's why you shouldn't get married real quick. We'll start getting married. So it's like bothering me that much, but yeah, I get it. Yeah. But yeah. So long for the ride, Kings. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh And I actually love her fucking introduction because it's this beautiful fucking custom. No, go ahead. It's her beautiful, she's a mermaid. There's the there's the dancing, the bunch of women. What her dancing choreography dancing, and she pops up and she's beautiful and smiling and looking up, and she I guess she messes up or something, somebody messes up or something, and she gets all pissed off and throws off for TR and it's that ugly, strong fucking New York kind of Brooklyn accent.
SPEAKER_02Hey, what do you mean here?
SPEAKER_03And then the whole point for her is I'm not a ma'am, I'm not a ma'am, I'm a miss. And then that whole point of like uh I think he even says, like, oh, it's a huge public relations issue if you're not married. Innocent, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he's like, Yeah, and she was like, Yeah, I am, you're right. And then it's like it's funny, because like you're not, girl. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. You've been married to a minor ma figure. He's not minor. Yeah. I love that, brother. It's just not minor. It's like the other guy was a drug addict. She's like, well, yeah, I see what I mean. You guys fucked up two louses or two louses or whatever, right? What's a third gonna do? And then it's fucking and then I love that. So like he has to solve her public relation issue, which he solves later on with the she'll have she'll adopt her own baby. But then that solves itself too, because then she meets Jonah Hill, who's a professional Joe. Professional person. He's a professional average Joe. An average Joe, yeah. Dude, I didn't think that connection until they called him they kept calling him Joe, and then you fucking average Joe. I was like, ah! Peak.
SPEAKER_03As a as an average Joe myself, I I take notice.
SPEAKER_02You guys didn't know what the J and J B stone for. The J is silent. I was kidding. Average. He's Osif. He's Osif. Alright. And they and that resolves itself because she ends up fucking marrying Jonah Hill.
SPEAKER_03And that's the the I I think that's the only scene he's in, right? Is that sort of thing. And she's like, oh, that's I bet that is that really heavy. Yeah. That what a hole puncher. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, it's not a hole puncher. What it is is like his stamp. He's bonded. It's a special stamp that like folds the paper, marks the paper up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03She's like, oh, is that heavy? Is that hard?
SPEAKER_02He's like, it's part of the job, miss. Yeah. So that's kind of some rizz from him, right? He is risen by the once he realized how into it she was. And then like that result itself. But okay. So the main plot is a movie star gets kidnapped, kidnapped off of the main movie, and it's George Cooney who plays Baird Whitlock, and uh he gets kidnapped. Josh Bolin also has to deal with the pregnant movie star, and Josh Bolin has to deal with um another young actor who's a rodeo star who gets called in to act in a different movie that's entirely different genre. From his genre. Yeah. He goes from fucking cowboy pictures, cowboy singing pictures, into like a freaking it looks like a series dramatic or a rom-com thing. Like a romantic drama that's like taking seriously with dialogues. Yes, and he knows he doesn't talk a lot. He usually just sings like he talks about like he And he does horse tracks. Yeah. And he uh and so that's like the three kind of things he's gotta that Eddie Magic's gotta deal with. And it's like they kinda well two of them kinda interact with each other, but the Scarlet Johansson thing just gets resolved as a fun third thing. Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with the A-plot kinda. And that's like fucking C plot, I guess. Even though she gets shown second, because at first because in this movie they do the crazy cutaways there where it's randomly like we're in the scene. So when we first get her introduction, like he said, we just we're in the movie and then we randomly cut to the water to the movie the camera.
SPEAKER_03To the in-movie movies being made.
SPEAKER_02Yes, like if we're in the movie that's being made right now, it's like, oh, we're watching this now, but and then and then like the cameras always pan away and the illusion is broken, and it's like, oh, we're watching a different movie that's about making movies, which is part of what I fucking love. And uh damn bro, did you have notes for burn after reading? Because I realized we're about to go hard on hail, and then how hard are we gonna go on burn? I didn't. Oh fuck, he's freeballing it. That's fine. Damn, bro. This is bad. Bad for movie stars everywhere. Bad for podcasts. Everywhere. Don't let me bet you a bigger grip. Dude, does Hobie Boyle, you're swearing too bad.
SPEAKER_00They'll kill you, Hobie Boyle.
SPEAKER_02Hobie Boyle is the goaded to me. Is it Boyle or Doyle? Hoby Doyle. Doyle, okay. It's Hobert Doyle, sorry. Hobert. Fucking love that. Okay, uh, so yes, Josh Brolin, Thanos himself, Cable himself is Eddie Mannix, the problem solver of all these different problems. As you you heard, he solves Scarlett Johansson's problem by having her adopt her own baby, but then it it extra solves herself because then she's gonna marry Jonah Hill. Yeah, she's gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_03And they'll just be like, it's his baby, yeah. Because in her introduction scene, she's like, if there wasn't a good, reliable man, you don't think I would have picked him up? And that's what this professional average Joe is. He's just a super fucking reliable guy. And so she's seeing that, and they're explaining like he he is the guy. Like, this dude did six months just so that way this other guy wouldn't get like he's that fucking reliable. And she's like, Yeah, she's he has integrity, and she's like, That's my man right now.
SPEAKER_02They go to Palm Springs, they don't even have to go to Vegas back in the 50s, bro. That's crazy. Uh drive-through wedding, for like a one-dinner date.
SPEAKER_03Uh they were just like, yeah. Late last night and then drove to fucking Palm Springs. Like, what, three in the morning? She drove, I bet, yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, at three in the morning. Uh that solves itself. Uh the entire George Clooney plot about him getting kidnapped. Kidnapped. He gets kidnapped by communist writers who want to use him for ransom. Mm-hmm. Strike back at this quote unquote system that takes all their ideas and profits off of them hugely.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And uh they um and they try to explain communist to him, communism to him, and they try to just bring him on to their ideals. And they do. And they do, they suede him because he's such a little goofball, like he's still he's kind of a he's kind of a dummy, just kind of like he is in the world.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but yeah, he when the reason I say like they do do or they do actually persuade him, yeah. Is because he does regurgitate what the they told him back to Mannix. Mannix, yeah.
SPEAKER_02As much as he kind of understood it. He's like, We can predict the future with science for himself. Yeah, it's like, oh man. But that whole any scenes with their interacting, when they're trying to explain stuff to him too, is just so it's like highfalutin circles to me, I feel like, and I love it. And it's also even even crumb holts just bro, like crumb holts holding it down in the background, just shouting shit, shouting. Being angry. Yes, he's being so freaking hangry. I'm gonna call it hangry because they started serving the cucumber sandwiches and he calmed down in it.
SPEAKER_03The little sandwich the squares, sandwich squares. Yup. And uh also, too, we didn't talk about the I think it's more in the beginning. Mannix is uh He has a meeting with Lockheed because they're offering him a contract to work with them. So he might leave the movie business. Yeah, that's like his whole that's like the main Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02His main conflict. There you go. That's like because it this whole movie starts off, it opens up with him in a church in confession, actually.
SPEAKER_01Like, does it open with that or something?
SPEAKER_02No, it opens with the with the confession and then he goes. Yeah, because it's all like it is not it is five something in the morning and there's no sleep for Eddie Maddox.
SPEAKER_03That's when he's saving that actress, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's when he slaps her. That's after the religion. That's after he first opens up with the shot of Jesus on the cross. Okay. And that's why I was telling you, this movie, he is movies is Eddie's religion, kinda.
SPEAKER_03And that's why you love this movie so much, actually.
SPEAKER_02It is movies are kind of my religion, I realized that. Uh the Pope is Martin's safety. It's now bro, no one's gonna be crowned. I'm just kidding. Uh I bet you they'll give it best picture, but they won't give him best director. I don't know. I can't tell you until you always.
SPEAKER_03Curry Barker's gonna win.
SPEAKER_02That dude, imagine if he gets even if he gets nominated, I know he probably won't win. They'll probably get to the fucking 21-year-old kids who did that shit in the fucking computer. The backrooms.
SPEAKER_03Respect backrooms right fucking now. Rip backrooms is so fucking good, dude. Did you ever watch the extra sixteen minutes? No.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. It's that good, huh? Is it better than Obsession? No. Okay, okay, good. Alright, that's all I care about.
SPEAKER_00But uh But if either one of those kids somehow get nominated, that would be.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if I I could see I could see Barker because of the huge fucking moment 700,000 to fucking 400 million moment. Yeah. Just like the event that that movie became and the glaze that this uh actress gets and uh She's gonna be in Marvel then.
SPEAKER_02Yes, sir! She's gonna be rogue. Yeah, yeah. We're gonna hear her say sugar. I hope. I don't know. I I don't know. I guess that's kind of exciting because it guarantees we're gonna see her again.
SPEAKER_03Uh in a way I'm glad, but also it's like It sucks that she's getting stuck in the directly into the MCU. Yeah, that kind of sucks. It's like you're looking for years now. This had to have been like oh crazy big plan. Uh oh, obsession's hot, uh, let's get her.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Right? That's a little too fucking soon, don't you?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, bro.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, bro. I think it's been happening like and it's also the stupid like Instagram I feel like Instagram just pr saying everything and it just happens, like. I don't know. You know, like I know I get it. But that's it.
SPEAKER_03Maybe she will hang it for her. That's true.
SPEAKER_02Like it is, it is, but that's why I'm like, but it absolutely is. This came out and it was she did that fucking great, but I was like, I don't know how this channel's to rogue. I feel like I would want her to be able to work with like a fucking I don't know, I wanted to see something that's not just Marvel from her, I guess.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because we didn't know how to do that.
SPEAKER_02I think that's what I don't like is the fact that it's like, alright, this is her. Like we know she can do something because she did all of this and that was a horror movie, and I get that how that's horror. And I guess like if you want to like I don't know, to be horror is also a trope because we don't get to see what her whole range is, but we saw a fucking crazy wide range from all the stuff she had to do for this. And again, it's like I mean it also depends on what they do with Rogue, bro, because I know the X-Men 97 fucking show, they got a crazy good rogue gambit fucking plot line happening, like Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I've never seen it, but I've heard about that. It's pretty good. It is pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Like I saw the first season of it, I don't have Disney Plus anymore, so I can't see the second season, but uh there's some shit about that. It's pretty wild. So that's why I'm like So th it could be exciting what they do with her rogue, I hope. I don't know. And then I only only know Well, I guess it's out now, everybody knows, like spoilers. Like, did you see the other lineup for the X Men movie? You guys can tell we're we are recording this after D twenty three that just fucking announced all this shit like yesterday or Friday.
SPEAKER_03D twenty three.
SPEAKER_02The Disney Expo that just announced all the the fact that she's gonna be Roe.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I saw um the other but I didn't really pay attention to all the other actors because I was just like course she's here.
SPEAKER_02You were signed so hard in your head and heart that you just like moved on real quick. I get that. Yeah, was there some some other interesting casting you liked or what? That's why I don't know anybody. Oh okay. I don't know anybody except for Adam Driver, who's gonna be Mr. Sinister, which is, I guess, you know, the bad guy in that. And I I like Adam. Uh Sadie Sink is Jean Grey, which I don't I like. Is there hype behind her or what? It's well spoil it's spoilers for Spider-Man. That's what it is, sorry. She's been It's been kind of the internet guessed it a long time ago.
SPEAKER_03And then there was this whole, like, in my opinion, and I think we agree that it's fucking fake, this sort of hype art manufactured the hype that who she's gonna be. Oh, yeah. Yeah, who's gonna be where it's like fake who she be? Yeah. I don't know, uh was this person like a big actress before this?
SPEAKER_02I she was in Stranger Things. But she wasn't even like the Millie Billy Rob. She wasn't the main one, but she was part of the main little group. She jumped in on season two. Yeah, I just felt like I didn't know. And she was the daughter in the whale, so she's like she's done a couple cases.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I know she was I knew she was in Stranger Things, but I was like, I don't understand why they're building her uh hype for this because of the Jean Grant, bro, but to all to plan for the X-Men movie.
SPEAKER_02And I'm not gonna lie, she's pretty good in Spider-Man. Yeah, I know, yeah. Uh yeah, we don't we're not gonna talk about Spider-Man. I'm not hating on her, I was just like, I don't know, like she didn't have she didn't have her own version of like obsession version. Yeah, yeah. And then the other lady, I know a name is Samara Weaving, I think. And I already forgot, though. It's like we could look it up, but uh I think she's kinda she's been in some stuff already. Like I think Yeah, and then like I said, Adam Driver, but I don't recognize the other two guys. I don't recognize the guy who's gonna be Cyclops and the other fucking guy who's gonna be I don't I also don't know the lady who's playing Storm. I don't know her, I'm not sure if you're not, but there's gonna be a Storm outside. And I uh there's gonna have a new guy who's gonna be another Professor X. And his name's Christopher Abbott, and I feel like I should know who he is, but I don't. So I don't know who the fuck the Christopher the uh Professor X is gonna be.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02These names are so that's why I'm like I'll I mean I'll I'll probably watch the X-Men movie when it comes out. Uh just sheer curiosity. At this point we are curiosity.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, it's gonna be tied to MCEU, right?
SPEAKER_02It is, yeah, and like I said, I'll keep going for it. There's the new trailer for Doom Doomsday. I was gonna say Doomsday, like it is Doomsday, bro. It's Doomsday, bro. It certainly is Doomsday. It is Doomsday. Uh there's a trailer for Doomsday. And it's just they finally like showed Robert Down Jr. and he's doing some Doom shit. I don't know. It's pretty I was like You excited for that? You happy for that? It's not that I'm excited or ki or happy, it's just curiosity. It's just I really I'm more curious than anything. That's why I'll see these movies. And it's like I have enough, and it's I guess it's a curiosity, it's just a general loyalty to superhero movies. And it's just and I guess I yes I was an MCU fan and I remember. I am well I was too at some point. Right now, it's like for the for what was I will go and hope of what could be. If that sounds like a beautiful, bro.
SPEAKER_03There's nothing wrong with watching MCU. I just don't really have an interest in it. That's fine. I just don't care.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I wish you I wish we had the two.
SPEAKER_03I wish we had a fucking video. No, I don't. Yeah, we couldn't be. No, I don't.
SPEAKER_02I'm too embarrassed. Oh my god, shut your face. It's also terrible lighting in here right now. So we would look like zombies. Uh we got sidetracked hella mad. We did. How the fuck did we get about Hale Caesar to this? How the fuck did we get? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03We talked about Christopher Nolan winning, and then we talked about Carey Barker, and then we talked about Andy. That's how we got it. Sorry guys.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, guys, yeah. Uh very fun fact though, I'm about to take Joseph to his first Odyssey showing tomorrow. And I've seen it four times. He hasn't seen it at all yet. No. You guys, I can't wait for his reaction.
SPEAKER_03Even if he hates it, I don't care about it. I don't think I'm gonna hate it. It's just I'm just not interested in it, and not I'm not being forced. I want to watch it because you love it so much. Thank you, kid. And it's just like it's a long movie, it's a bunch of famous actors, it's Nolan getting blamed. I don't know why either, bro. Yeah, I'm just I'm a hypocrite, I guess, because sometimes I love it and sometimes I fucking get pissed off. Also, hold on. Actually, you said one you said something one time where I was like, I I made a joke last time where I was like, oh, I don't want to watch the fucking Odyssey because Zend cause Zendaya's in it. And you're like, you shut your or you said like you watch your tongue or something. And I was like, why why do you love Zendaya so much?
SPEAKER_02I don't think I had an answer for you then. Oh, okay. Yeah, I don't have an answer. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was wondering if you maybe like.
SPEAKER_02I think probably just because of how great she was in that.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I was listening back to our podcast and I was like, why is he defending ladies and I'm not gonna lie, after watching Spider-Man again, I she also did really good in it. Bro. And it's crazy because she's married to him in real life. Yeah. What happens in that movie too? Dude, like should I go watch it? You should, because like I almost want to tell you the ending, but I don't. I don't want to spoil it for you, because I want you to. But I would if I know you wouldn't care, but I just want you to see it automatically. Because that even if you don't even see what it is, and I point it out to you, you're gonna be like your mind will be blown, bro. Like the emoji for real for real. Would it? Exactly, bro. You'd have to eat your words so hard, and you wouldn't want to do it. I don't want to shame you like that, so it's okay.
SPEAKER_03Would I ever admit that I'm wrong?
SPEAKER_02You just did with Eddington with Eddington. I don't want to say it might be a little it won't it probably won't be a little of Eddington, but it'll just blow your mind, brains. Uh okay, but I'll still talk about five minutes. Okay, Hail Caesar. Hail Caesar. Good movie. Good movie. Um I will read you my notes. I was like, it's another narrator movie. The Coens are big on narrator movies. Yeah. Uh No Country narrates. Mm-hmm. No country does. He does. This one. I feel like we've got to rewatch some other other ones. Big Lebowski is a narrated movie. I already did, huh? Uh I don't think Fargo narrates. No, that one just jumps in. And I don't I really want to see Inside the Wind and Daddy this, honestly.
SPEAKER_03Still, I mean, this is They do have a couple narrator movies. Narrating is a choice, like right, they're making it.
SPEAKER_02Uh I also said titties two minutes in. Why did we write down titties again? I think somebody with cleavage is in the background. No, yeah, because the act the actress he slaps in. Because that's what the confession. Yeah, the confession. Because we heard we had a French calendar situation here. Uh and then I wrote the slap that confuses her too. I was like, do you think he's just slapping because he's actually mad or he slapped on purpose because you wanted her to be all shook enough so when the cops came she wouldn't be talking about it? Yeah, I was thinking of it. She's like crying too. And she's like, uh, my name's Mary Joe something. Sheinberg. I fucking yeah. I don't want to say I love it because I was like, I don't like him hitting her, but I'm like, I think he's doing it strategy-wise, and it's the fucking 50. And he and it is, right?
SPEAKER_03Because he kinda he does the same thing to George Booney.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I'll get to like okay. Also, this movie starts with some slapping and it ends with some slapping. That's when you said he so he slaps movie stars, huh? As you were saying that, I was writing down starts and then the slapping. And it was fucking, I was like, oh shit. I wrote down Okay, and then hang on, so slapped confuser. Dude, the Roman Okay, and then after what, after that slapping, that's when it cuts to the Roman showing, right? And it cuts to like Rome. And then the narrator narrates again. Yeah, but he narrates about the movie.
SPEAKER_03Like, and it's that's when Manix is watching the pre credit. He's watching it yesterday or something. And then it says like Divine Presence to be filmed or something. To be shot, which I think is so funny because he's kind of shooting.
SPEAKER_02And then that's how we also get the title card for the movie, Hail Caesar. Because when you see it announced as the movie movie. And uh I was like, oh and uh and I wrote Yes, dude. And I wrote, oh dude, there's a Roman soldier who has a stupid look when he's riding by on the horse. I don't know if you caught that. I did not. You said something when you saw me writing down, and I thought it was. But it's like, you know.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, he's looking down at the slate. Yes, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02He has the stupidest look ever, and I think about him every time I see him, bro.
SPEAKER_00Because the big thing he follows across the screen, and he's just it just in your brain.
SPEAKER_02The way I'm imitating it, I know it looks goofy as fuck, bro. Like, that's why we need the camera again. And then I wrote Mr. Krabs in this, Mr. Krabs in this, both times. Because Mr. Krabs is in this. I love it, bro. Autonicus. Autonicus. I've heard him do the guy with the list. Fucking oh my god. And then uh what did I read? He stands up. Oh! That's what I was gonna say. How much Eddie Mannix admires Mr. Skink in New York, or or just how good he is at knowing this is my boss, and he's he's being like a good underling, I guess. But like, he's on the phone and then he's talking, he's like, Hey Natalie, and then he hears Mr. Skink on, he's like, Oh, hey Mr. Skink. And he stands up. He literally stands up, like if the man came into the fucking room and he's like, I'm gonna stand up for you, and then he sits back down and he's like, Oh yeah, Hobie Boyle, like, oh the picture's going on like this, and then he's talking to them about the film, the film scheduling for the day or whatever. And uh, and I was just I get a kick out of that. I was like, and then that's also why at the end, once once fucking George Clooney name checks, he drops yeah, he drops the word and then he's like coming to you, motherfucker, and then he just He's listening to his communism bullshit, hands on his lips like drops the word skank, gets up, is like, ah bruh.
SPEAKER_03No, come on. I'm gonna tell you right now the way you're gonna do it. Listen here, buddy. You have a purpose. Skank is awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's you're in the system, motherfucker. You have worth if you serve the system. Fucking yes, I love when he stands up for him. Uh I know he talks about, oh, okay, that's where that was the religious scene. Let me check over here. I wrote how the assistants I love his assistant. Yeah, I was gonna say right now. I just I like her her her faith, her faith and her voice. I don't know. She's so assistant-ny, and her voice is just so I I don't even want to imitate her, but I don't even know how to describe it. It's just so perfect for the film?
SPEAKER_03Like it's she she's just a perfect can't like perfect performance for it.
SPEAKER_02I think so, bro. Like the way it's like I can't give you no information. Because like she doesn't have any good one-liners because she keeps coming back, which is why I'm like, okay, it's like we get a secondary character like that who we keep getting on repeat. Like that's why I fucking kind of love her. And you know. And then what was it? The religious figure debate movie first. Okay, yes. So then the religious figure debate, bro, like the whole premise of the movie. Oh yeah, where he brings in like uh a Baptist preacher, a Catholic priest, a rabbi, and some like orthodox fucking whatever whatever, I guess that's also a priest, an Orthodox priest. And like the four religious figures, because it's the the Roman movie that George Clooney's in is it depicts the Christ figure, and like this Roman general is gonna he's gonna meet Jesus and be turned so much he'll stop being a mean Roman general and he'll be like born-again Christian, basically. Yeah. And uh that's the whole point of that movie. And then so the whole point of his meeting with these religious figures is like, we just want to know if this is gonna offend any reasonable American. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Now either that offend you. I didn't like that. Like, okay, I didn't like it in the sense that that's how I uh that's how I think meetings in mov uh with like actual movies go. Not that I didn't like it in the movie, because like I said, I like that scene. That scene was scene was funny. I thought it said some good stuff, but I just think that's Well you don't like about it is how triggering That how worried they are about Okay about offending an American. Or right, like they say American, but like offending an audience member. Yeah. Okay. Right. That's that's what I meant when I said I didn't like it. I don't it's not that I didn't like the scene. Okay, okay. Or that like, oh that's stupid. I'm glad we elaborated on this. Yeah, I just meant that I didn't like the principle alluding to. Yeah, or that I just didn't like that idea in a sense. Because to me, that I feel like just like how they shape the PR or their public images with like uh Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett Johansson's character, right? Like she has to be married because she's gonna have a kid. Like just that fakeness that they have I think is which and what is why I like this movie, because that's what I think it says about the yeah, that's it's pointing this out in the movie theater or the movie industry. So I like it. I like the scene, I like the like the words that you're gonna do. But the idea of we don't want to offend the an audience member. At the expense of art, at the expense of creating this art, we want to make sure an audience, an average area.
SPEAKER_02He does say like an average member. Does he say average or I believe he says an average reasonable?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. A reasonable audience member or something like that. I was just like, I don't like that idea.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Because it's some type of a collusion. Okay, I like that. I love that interpretation. I'm glad we fucking expanded on that. And then So, yeah, so he says that, like, will this offend anybody? And they say, and of course, but the whole entire debacle of all the religious figures is that first they respond by saying, I think your movie's okay. Like, I think the chariot scene's a little fake or whatever. How could he jump from one chariot to the other? And they're like, and then I know how they were arguing with each other, and they said, Who's gonna be in it? And they were like, Oh, we have this young kid, he's gonna play Jesus, but we're gonna have the Roman general played by Baird Whitlock, and then they're all impressed by that. Yeah, they're all impressed. Oh, that's like it's like you're playing by George Clooney. And uh they uh they fucking uh they just break down and they start arguing about will it offend anybody, and the rabbi was like, Well, we can't have any depiction of the godhead on there, but of course we don't think Jesus is God. Yeah, and then that kind of starts the whole argument. That starts the debate, yeah. Like, Jesus is a part God, they split, and then like nobody can give a good answer, or one guy says one thing and the other guy contradicts him, and then I like he was like unity, uh unity and division, and then there's division and unity, and then it was just like what? And then like I like how at first the rabbi is kind of I think he's the most he has the most sense in that room. He's also like gentle, like he was like, young man, the reason why you're kinda lost is because all these men are idiots, you know, like just like he ain't wrong about that. And then he was just like, What did it offend? And then they were all like, No, no, no. And the rabbi, he's like, I don't have an opinion. And it was just like you motherfucker, you kinda shit stirred all this, and then he instigated all that. Yeah, you instigated this, and then he's just like, Yeah, it doesn't matter. Just I fucking love how just like they just get into that. And then I also wrote something down or something that about what Eddie says about movies, and he was like, millions of people come to them for entertain for information and uh like history and yes, entertainment. And I was like, that is a I like that they point out that concept too, which it does kind of have to do with the offending and not offending, but it's also like what the what movies do in general is yes, they entertain, but they also can inform. Because they also can give many history lessons if they're historically acting, you know, it's just like For sure? Yeah, but I forgot the third thing. I don't think it's news, but I had information, news, and entertainment. But I know information entertainment he used, but he said a third word and I forgot. But I was just like, yes, that is what all movies movies kind of do that without trying to do it or even like it's like or they try to do it. Yeah, exactly. Or they try to do it, and so I was like, oh shit. That's why I was just like peeking behind, recalling it the way we say, yep. Yeah. Uh oh, I wrote down Vince was not minor because of what Scarlet says about her fucking gangster husband. Uh and then uh back to over here I have about the fucking when Tilda Swinton comes into the movie, bro. Swain fucking like with the craziest fits ever, playing twins that show up one at a time. I fucking love it. And Thora is like, it's the name that 19 million is reading uh 19 million readers trust Eddie, and then her sister's like, Oh, it's the one in the 20 million readers trust Eddie. Dude, oh, okay. I wrote down my favorite lines that they both have. Because each of them says something, like they deliver a line that's fucking to me it's so like Thora, the first one, she's like, running it tomorrow. I just love it. You just love the way she says it. Running it tomorrow. Like, dude, like I got the shit now.
SPEAKER_03Her voice is That's why I asked, like, where is she from? Because it's like I know she has an accent in real life interviews or whatever, but then like in this movie, she's just like she's so 1950 fucking. Yeah, it's like why is she? Yeah, like how is she running it?
SPEAKER_02Dude, dude, just I love her voice. And then I think the other sister at some point, um, in that because she's next after, right? Because he talks to both sisters back to back real quick, right there. She was like, Hi, ankle sprain! Like she says hi, like she said the word hi, hi, like I know, and I was just like, hi, ankle sprain. Like it's I fucking just burned in your brain. They are, they really are. Just like that fucking guy with the riding the horse, looking down on the slaves. Like, he himself looks so dumb, just being like, fuck you, slaves, but like he looks so dumb. Like, oh my god, but just running it tomorrow. Like, oh, I can run it forever, bro. Um and then I wrote down because that's how how he takes um Okay, so like this is happening, this is interspersed. He he gets a ransom note at some point that's saying deliver $100,000 to this one stage uh and then you'll get Baird Whitlock back. While that's happening, so the morning when he calls his boss, Mr. Skank, Mr. Skank is the one that has the idea to put the cowboy Hobie Doyle in the talkies, yeah, basically. Yeah. And then Ralph finds motherfucking Voldemort himself, motherfucking Hades, motherfucking how did you what did you know him as? Or no, you just went along. You know what I'm talking about? Lawrence Lorenz.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What else do you know? I don't know if I know him from something else.
SPEAKER_03Well, I know he was in the what, Red Dragon or he's in one of them. Yes. It is Red Dragon. But I don't think I didn't say that. Oh. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, how did you know in some animal stuff? I watched the show. Did you ever watch the show? No. Okay, it's very interesting. We'll talk about it. Uh there's a lot of good like a food in there, I'm not gonna lie. Um, but no, he so yes, Ralph Fines is Lawrence Lorenz, this one director who's like I don't know how to describe it, but I fucking But yes, Hobie walks in, and there's a whole one of the most infamous dialogue scenes, I feel like, of this movie was a big trailer moment too, it was just like poor Hobie's like a kid that talks with a fucking accent, like I think he's from fucking Texas or something. Like he's just he's got a doll. Like, oh, you want me to get you a you want me to fetch you a bigger grit, Mr. Mannix?
SPEAKER_03Like a good old Southern boy.
SPEAKER_02Yes, like really, and that's how he got he rodeoed and then he got roped into it because he looked handsome and a wholesome good old like that's what he is. Like Hobie is fucking coded, bro. Okay, he's so oh god, he's like a superhero for will for will without any powers and just being so goodness through sheer will of Oh, you know what a superpower is? Lasso. You know what? I lied. You saw his physicality, that motherfucker's got super soldiers through him. Yeah. The way he's flipping off his horse, yeah. The stunts that he was doing in the in the world. You know what he's there's a line he says too when they do his thing, he's like, he's like, I could do that flip again, like I didn't like it. And he was like, it's okay, the horse is tired. You go, like they said the horse is tired, just go take a break, Doby. It's like, okay, I'm gonna get a play of beans. And then he had a big ass play the beakings and a piece of bread, I think. And they're like, now go act. I'd go act like now you're gonna go back to the studio. So where he was filming is probably it's like some real life famous, like I mean, because of traffic nowadays, that shit probably takes two hours to get to there, but it's like something miles out of LA, kind of above the hills type shit. Like you're on the way to Lancaster, I think. I think it's over there, but there's like or it might even be closer down here. It's like it's it's a famous place where they would film. It's like where the manson was. If you were if you remember once upon a time in Hollywood, you remember how they go to that farm and where the Mansons are? It was that. Like I'm pretty sure that's where like Hobie was filming, because that that kind of shit existed in RRL. Yeah. And that's why they're like, you gotta go back to the studio. So then he gets a ride all the way back to like fucking the Capitol Pictures or whatever, which is like you know, going in a Burbank basically. And uh and that's why so they were like, okay, they're changing your image. And so he's gotta go from fucking cowboy to a guy in a tuxedo at a fucking ballroom dance kind of scene, bro. And just the whole dialogue scene I was alluding to earlier, he was like, Okay, Hobie, I want you to go up to her and say, Would that it were so simple?
SPEAKER_01Would that it was so simple?
SPEAKER_02And you know, just that whole bridging and connect the it and were to twir and would that it was so simple. Would that it was so simple? And then poor Hobie's got the fucking accent, he's like, Would that it were so simple, like simple, like he just he butchers it, and he butchers it and butchers it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's like saying it while shaking his head, he's moving his hands, the director's frustrated, smacks him, yeah. Like smacks his hand down and Would that it was so simple.
SPEAKER_02And then how do they s and then they cut away from this? We don't know how the situation gets resolved until later on where Eddie's visiting the m the editor of the movie, played by fucking Franny McDormand, dog, fucking Linda Litzky herself, bro. And uh they play it back and then it's funny because all the the uneasiness you see in him while he's filming the scene because he's nervous to be on this, yeah. It plays on the fucking the mini screen and he looks and make it look like he is upset because he sees the case. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It actually like when you're watching it in the editing room, it looks like a good performance. It's the magic of fucking everything, bro. Yes. And then it's it would it's what it's were so simple or whatever, it's cut down to it's complicated. It's complicated. Dude, it's I fucking think that's so beautiful that they rewrote it. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and then it's funny because it's also like so after they cut away from the dialogue, mishap, uh at some point the director, Ralph Fines, barges into Josh Brown's office and he was like, I can't work with him. And then he's like, Well, is the boy game? Oh, he's game. And gamey. Like, dude, there's vocal sims in this movie, bro. Like, I'm just doing everyone. And then I love that and gamey. And uh, I'm just like, 'cause that's kind of the perfect way to describe what it's going on with Port Hobby. Like, yeah, that's a good way. He's just chewing not too much, because he's gamey. That's what Chewy means, as I recall, in the meat terms. 'Cause they always say deer's gamey. Yeah. I don't know. You ever had venison? Nope. Okay. Uh we need it. Um but then fucking God and then he just tells him, he's like, Oh, you're the director, it's your job. Figured out figured out a simple rewrite, baby. Let's go. Bada bing, bada boom. And I was just like, yes. And then meanwhile, though, so that happens, but he or even before I see he thinks I think before he sees the editing performance, because I feel like he talks to the director, and then later on in the afternoon he talks to Hobie. Because he wants to just be like, hey Hobie, like how you doing? You know, like like you're doing okay. And then while that happens, that's when he gets the call from the kidnappers. And he well, he gets a call from his wife. And he she was all like, oh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he he gets a call from the kidnappers and misses it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, misses it. And then gets a call he thinks it's gonna be the kidnappers, but it's his wife. And there's a real quick uh, oh our son he wants to play shortstop. Uh they're gonna put him on shortstop, but he wanted to be first base. And then uh he's like, Oh, well, I think we should make him honor that commitment. The coaches that they're gonna put him on first base. And he's like, Oh call the coach. And then he never calls the coach. I wrote that down too, because and then that'll come up later. But then like then he gets the call from the like he's talking to Hobie and he's all like, Well, you know, Mr. Lawrence is a good picture, you know, you or a good director. You just listen to him and he'll take care of you, Hobie. And he's like, Oh, you're right, he he won't quit on a tape till it has quality. And I love I fucking love that line too. He won't quit until it has quality. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03To me, that's like him like acknowledging the fact that I did a bunch of fucking taking.
SPEAKER_02I got smacked around a little bit too, and he told me to stop moving my head.
SPEAKER_03And he's supposed to be like And then also too, uh Lawrence Lorenz says that uh Lawrence Lorenz presents means something. Or something like that, right?
SPEAKER_02I was about to not say that. I fucking oh, you know why? It's because that's on the back side. That's in page three of notes. Sorry. It's okay. I wrote LLP. Because I was like, it's kind of fucking like nowadays that means like a company thing or something. L C I think it does. Okay, yeah. And then I was just like, yes, Lawrence Lorenz presents. And I fucking love that later on we see that when he's re-watching in the editing room, he's like, Lawrence Lorenz Lorenz presents. And it does mean something, and then Noyle got a complicated performance up. And then uh but yes, then he talks to his wife about his son in baseball.
SPEAKER_03Also, too, okay. I maybe you remember the dialogue better. I thought the discussion with the baseball was his son wanted to be in the position, and then he changed his mind, and that's why he's that's why he says maybe we should make him honor. That's what I thought. I thought he was talking about his son. Maybe he's talking about to the maybe he's talking about the coaches, I don't know. No, no, no. He's talking about the coaches.
SPEAKER_02That's why he's gonna call the coach and make the coach, hey, he like you talked about you're gonna put him in first in first uh base, and that's why they switched it up on him and on the son basically to uh shortstop. And then that's why it resolved itself, because he's gonna tell the coach, hey, put my son back in first base. But since he didn't make that phone call, he didn't make the phone call and he played shortstop and he liked it and he played well. Yeah, and he's like that that solved itself. Yeah. Because again, his life is in this fucking job and not at home so much. And that's why he thinks it's a bad thing, but then he thinks it's the hard thing. And then the hard thing is uh the right thing, maybe, or how did he say it? Yeah. We'll get to that, but yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He uh I can't believe I didn't write it down. And then uh they what is it? Hobie he gets the second phone call from the future because that's what they call themselves a kidnapper. He's like features online too. Yeah, and then they're the ones that say, like, leave it, or leave it stage eight, eight o'clock or whatever, behind the fucking outlet box. And he's like, okay. And then just he hangs up the phone. Oh yeah, I'm gonna die. He hangs up the phone and he looks at Hobie. He just has that look on his face, and he was just like, fucking, yeah, like I'm going to go. There's a hundred fucking thousand dollars. Yeah, dude, he's just like, I'm a little tired right now. Hobie, I'm gonna let you in on something right now, man. Like, there's a hundred thousand dollars in here. Bear's been kidnapped. And Hobie just gives the fucking best response. This is bad. Bad for movie stars every day. Bad for movie stars every yeah. And it's true, could you imagine if they started if they tried to kidnap Hollywood people?
SPEAKER_03If you saw that that worked, that would be a good thing. But I just like the idea of like him in a selfish kind of sense of like, this is bad for movie stars. I'm a movie star, this affects me. I betcha I don't think Hobie would be bad. He doesn't think the movie stars kind of meant. But he I think that's kind of what he meant. A little bit. But but he was like, my brethren are in trouble. Yeah, just the fact that like, oh no, like this is bad. This is bad for movie stars. Like, actually genuine concern is that. They don't even know it's communism yet.
SPEAKER_02Like it's commies. Bad for America. The commies. And that's all he later finds out, so it's the commies then. And then I fucking Hobie just gives him a sound piece of.
SPEAKER_03He fucking locks the fuck in at this moment. He's like a talking hillbilly. Yep. And then they say, hey, uh, he was been kidnapped, and he's like, fucking locks in real quick. He's like, oh, check the fucking extras. And he's totally right, because it's fucking Newman. It's Newman. From Seinfeld. Earlier in the show. Or earlier in the movie, he mixes something, some powder, right?
SPEAKER_02He's the one that poisons George and gets him in the fan that kidnaps him. And it's like, oh fuck. And eventually he is the one that he dows them because when you're checking in with the assistant, she's all like, oh, he said this, he said that. They found the driver of the bus. They're talking to him, and then that's how yeah. And uh, but yes, I fucking dude. I love that line. I love that line. Which one? Um check the idea. This is uh this is bad for movie stars everywhere. That's I love that one. That's another vocals them in the room. And just every everyone has such a good delivery. Hi ankle sprain. Running it tomorrow. Like, dude, I wish I had a soundboard right now, and I'm just like running it tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Running it tomorrow. I can't because I have a high ankle sprain.
SPEAKER_03You're gonna only communicate through hail season fucking plugs.
SPEAKER_01No, you're absolutely right.
SPEAKER_03Like a bumblebee in the transformer. Talks to the radio, you're gonna talk to a copy, a DVD copy of a hail teaser.
SPEAKER_01It would work. Kind of.
SPEAKER_03If you hurt your ankle, yeah, sure it will it'll work out perfectly fine in life.
SPEAKER_01Like no cap. Oh god.
SPEAKER_02Oh my fucking gosh, that was stupid. No, it's okay. That's okay, it is. Okay. Damn, no, I want to know what a soundboard take.
SPEAKER_04It's not like in the movie, it's just you enacting it.
SPEAKER_01That's the fun.
SPEAKER_03You're an idiot. Uh IoT star. Oh, my head sings right now from laughing.
SPEAKER_01Do you need more cool water?
SPEAKER_03Oh, no, no, I I got a bunch of water.
SPEAKER_02Is it cold enough though?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good. Oh my god. Okay, and then uh Oh shit, that was a good one. Thank you. That was. Okay, you're right. We got my Hobie Doyle. Uh Hoby Doyle locks in. So that way later on, when he sees Channing Tatum in the restaurant with the satchel, he follows him. That's how he gets George Clooney. That's where we bring George Clooney back. But meanwhile, George Clooney's been at the fucking house learning communism. Channing Tatum eventually takes Channing Tatum gets picked up by the Russians. Apparently, Channing Tatum is the most super Russian spy. Like he was like, I'm not even here for the money. He was just gonna go. And then at the last second, they gave him the money, and then he drops it, because his dog runs up on the boat, which is fucking hilarious and adorable. And then he just keeps the dog with him, and they go in the submarine, and then there you go. He's gonna go be a little Soviet dog in a Soviet champion. Yeah. Uh but Hobie brings home George Cooney while he found him during the cutest date ever, where the cat like the craziest first date chemistry happens ever.
SPEAKER_03Because they're changing his image, and part of that is they're setting him up with uh what's the actresses? Carlotta something. Carlotta, okay. They're so they're setting him up to take him, take them two will be like on a date for the premiere. His premier moonlight movie. I forget what it's called. Uh Lazy Old Moon. Lazy Old Moon.
SPEAKER_02Lazy Old Moon.
SPEAKER_03He just pressed the fucking ankle spray.
SPEAKER_01No, I was gonna say the the the old man rat in the movie.
SPEAKER_02He's like, or he's like, I ain't listening to no botsy women, old women. That's what it is.
unknownHe's like, why that moon turned me in?
SPEAKER_02That's the name that 20 million readers trust Eddie. Nobody saw it about pressing the buttons.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's uh pretending to press his he's I have paper in front of his butt in in front of him right now, he's pushing his finger down on it.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. This is bad. This is bad. This is bad. This is bad. Let me the the quote finish. Oh god, okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But anyways, he goes on the fucking their chemistry is insane how cute their dates. And it's funny because she's like a Latin movie star, probably reminiscent of God, I wish older movie stars that like she's Latina and he's just super white and adorable. And then it's funny because he's got her laughing because he's playing with his spaghetti and he makes a mini lasso with spaghetti. And then he made his feet be the little protective, yeah, were they looking wrangled themselves.
SPEAKER_03And then she's like, Don't play with your food, pointing her finger.
SPEAKER_02She's laughing so hard.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and he fucking wrangles her finger.
SPEAKER_02Like the the effectiveness of that little spaghetti lasso is insane to me, but like, you're right, this is a thick ass spaghetti needle, then not breaking. Nothing was strong. So fettuccine ass shit. And then like it's so funny because they're fucking then they sing that song together. It's like, you gotta live a little.
SPEAKER_00Live a little, and then well, I don't remember the words, but I just remember it's like something like that. This is bad.
SPEAKER_01No, no, just this is bad. This is bad. This is bad. I'm not sure. This is bad.
SPEAKER_03But also, too, I want to talk about real quick their introduction where he's outside waiting for her. Yes. And she does that little cutesy dance where she puts like her purse on her hand or her head and she's like something like it's all on the eyes, the lips, the what did she say?
SPEAKER_02It's all on the hips and the lips and the eyes and the thighs. Yeah. And then she does a toss.
SPEAKER_03She does a little toss and catches it behind her back.
SPEAKER_02It's real cute. But it's funny because so she has her own cute, like, a gimmick where her dancing with stuff on her head, and he has his gimmick with lassoing. Because he's waiting doing lasso tricks, like in the street in front of her fucking house. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00She's like, they're so cute.
SPEAKER_03They are really cute. And then at the movie, too, at the at his premiere, we talked about it. Yeah, we'll talk about it. There's uh he talks to talks to her to the side and he's like, Oh, they only give me one shot at this song. Yeah. And then when the song plays, there's like a humorous moment where the guy's yelling at the reflection of the moon and he jumps into it and the audience erupts in laughter. Yeah. And I kind of took it as like, oh, like he was they took they took it took away from his moment.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But you kind of But I think that's good because it helps him, because he was worried about it. Because he only got one shot on it type thing.
SPEAKER_03And then he realized, and so I remember like, because you pointed that out, she does look at him kind of like this is this is good, this is the right reaction for the case.
SPEAKER_02So like the second laugh uh like a laugh joke, they are all laughing, he laughs along with them. I saw that. Oh, okay, yeah, he eases up a little. Alright. Yeah, and I know he was nervous, but it is, but I also still think your interpretation is just interesting too, because maybe I wonder if he felt like that or if that's what they were trying to show us. Or if it is my I don't know. That's why I was like, oh, it's so good. That's the beauty of cinema.
SPEAKER_00And then he was just and I was like, and he sounded pretty good in general, like as we hear it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like that's a new button, guys.
SPEAKER_01I got a new button. He added it. This is bad.
SPEAKER_02It's all in the hips and the lips and the ass in the back. That's gonna be the other one too. Um and then during that's when he's at that restaurant with her, he sees Chenning Tatum with the suitcase he saw in Eddie Mannix's office, and then that's why he knew Oh fucking. Yeah, he knows to follow him. I'm gonna follow him. That's how I rescue George Clooney. And then that's how like those two stories combined. And that's what and then it's George Clooney ends up showing to work the next day. It's when as they're leaving the house in Malibu, the cops. The cops pass by, yeah. I was like, okay, I guess they did detect a fucking submarine in Malibu. They detected something, right? And uh he gets George Clooney back, he takes him to the Beverly Hotel, because George Clooney's like, oh I can't go home, yeah. It's too late, right? It's 1230, and yeah, whatever, yeah. And uh so he drops him to the hotel. Uh George Clooney shows up at work the next day, goes into Eddie's office, and he's trying to he's sitting there, like we were saying, right? He's telling him about oh yeah, and they can predict the future with their with their communism equations, and it's just the con yeah, yeah, and he's all like, and they know everything's gonna happen, and he's like, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And he's like, and we all work are part of the system, and the movies work for the system, and that's what they they they make money for it. And then that's when he was like, and that and then that big that fat cat in New York, uh, Nick's game, and then that's when he gets up, guys. Grabs him and slaps him a couple times, just like we talked about, he slapped the girl in the beginning, and then he was all like also like we didn't say why he slapped her other than quick confusion, but it's like the studio owns her likeness and she was taking looting semi-surchs, yeah kind of like she was cosplaying into something like a I guess it was like a more vulgar kind of pictures being taken. Like she's chilling butter, so it's like she's drinking off the butter and her boobs are out. Well, not like exposed, but like she's wearing like showing a lot of cleavage. Yeah. Like and so and they have her bend over, so she's showing more cleanage. And then so it's like, so she was all and then the the photographer was like, Oh come on, Eddie, Eddie's like, the studio owns her rights. Like, get like fuck you get out of here. And then the cops came because they thought it was that. So that's why he that's why he was there stopping her in the beginning. But yes, but anyways, when he slapped Baird, it was out of anger. Because that's what he confessed to the priest, he was later. That's true. That's the movie star in the house. I remember both those scenes, I didn't really put it together in this in a sense, in that sense. Yeah, you're right. And he's all like, um, so but he fucking slaps him, he's just like, shut up with all this ridiculous shit. And he was just like, listen to me, like you like you serve the picture, the director serves the picture, and like the script girl does her part of the picture, everybody does their fucking part, yeah. And you have purpose when you serve the picture, and it's just the picture has worth, and it's you have worth, and you serve the picture, and it's a beautiful fucking moment, or he was just like, get your shit together, we all do this together, like fuck you, movies is magic, and I love it. And then he's just fucking like, okay, Eddie, okay.
SPEAKER_03And he also says, like, I think it's at that point where he's like, as long as I'm in charge of this, yes, exactly. As long as and don't you ever forget it, as long as I'm in charge here. Yeah, and that's it. And I feel like that scene is when he's actually deciding like or he's deciding, yeah, like this is what I actually want to do. Yeah, and so when yeah, and then when he goes to the church. When he goes to the preach, or when he goes to the confession, he's talking about it. We'll get to that later, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's what it is, yeah. That's about to come up. Because like it's like uh so yeah, and then fucking and I like that when Eddie's about to walk out the door, or when George's out there. Go out there and be a star. Yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, yeah. Fucking goes with it. And then that's when he gets uh approached by Tilda Swinton again. Or that's when he's about to walk out his office, he gets the flowers, and then they're all like Scarlet Johansson. She got married, Jonah Hill. Uh Tilda Swinton walks up because she's one of the sisters who she was supposed to she's gonna drop an old story about George Clooney's character that he Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's something they bring up throughout the whole time. Yeah, throughout the whole film.
SPEAKER_02You don't know exactly what's something on Eagles' wings. And the the bird squawk. Yeah, the bird squawking it's a funny audio bit.
SPEAKER_03I fucking love it. And so through uh you don't know what that means until the very end, where it's she was like she got his role through Sawed Me with the director, Lawrence Lorentz.
SPEAKER_02And we're like, oh shit!
SPEAKER_00Hobie Doyle with the Twist So Simple Dog.
SPEAKER_01This is bad. That's what he starts everywhere.
SPEAKER_02And so, but then it turns out like um uh Josh Burling's just like, listen, I know your source, Channing Tatum, because he's he's Lawrence Lorentz's current protege. Protege. But he's also a communist. They just yeah, and if you print that, they'll just think you work for communism now, you're a commie, and she was like, oh fuck. And then he just gives her those flowers that he's that he happened that he gave. And he's like, Here, I got these for you, I don't have to give them to you now. Like, this is a sorry, and I'm sorry your sister showed up at the restaurant and knew about Hobie and Carlotta, because he told her about that. That was supposed to be her. Which I think that's what started the whole entire you're gonna take Carlotta out tonight. I think he had that idea and he had to make it happen. Which is why they're like, Oh yeah, and you're gonna take Carlotta out. Because you think about it, he gets a phone call that morning from uh Mr. Skank and he's like, put Hobie Doyle in the other movie, and then after that he meets her and that's when he starts working, he changed the image. Yeah, and he was like, uh we're gonna Hobie and Carlotta are gonna be out together tonight, and then I think he makes it happen. So I was like, oh but that's just his problem-solving brain just spinning there. Because even when him and that lawyer guy are coming up with a plan for Scarlett Johansson, he was like, Could she adopt her own baby? And then they're like, Whoa, like what? I think that could happen. He was like, nothing about it in California Charter. He was like, she would have to give somebody she'd have to give up custody. Like, who can we trust to that? And they were like Joe Silverman, fucking Jonah Hill, Joe Silverman, Professor Joe. Hey, you're Joe Golderman. No, you're Joel Platinum in. What's I don't know, what do you consider higher than Gold or Platinum? I don't know. You're Adamantium. You join me? Yeah, you're that Joe. You're not just an average Joe. This is bad. This is bad. Name the 20 million redistrust.
SPEAKER_01We're running it tomorrow. I'm on a soundboard now.
SPEAKER_03Like damn it. It's just gonna be hail Caesar references.
SPEAKER_02It will for now. Until we find something else that vocals didn't need to decide through. Um, so yes, so then happy resolution. He oh yeah, he tells his assistant, call that guy at Lockheed, say, never mind. Then he goes back to confession and he was like, excuse me, father, it's been 27 hours since I had his confession, which is like the entire movie. Yeah, the priest is like, I see you all the fucking time. He's like, Really, you're not that bad. Like he tells him, bro. You don't have to keep doing it. And you know what he confessed it? He confessed it, he was like, I snuck a cigarette, I lied to my wife about the cigarettes, and I struck a movie store out of anger. And like, that's what he's upset about. He's like, and then the five ale marriage. Yes, and then and then he tells the priest, he's like, wait a second, wait a second. Like, and he asked the priest for that final bit of advice too. Like, if it's easy, does that make you bad? Yeah. And there's this other job, and it's hard, and it's very hard, and I don't and I but it feels right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's like, I don't know if I can keep doing it. Yeah. So the hard job is the job he's doing now, and the easy job is the more, yeah, like, and it's makes it look like it's more financially financially like appealing to you.
SPEAKER_02Because they're like, you have a 10-year contract and have that, you can probably fucking retire. It's like that's kinda cool. Like, that's some Gary Talk option shit you're saying. Yeah. I was like, that's actually yeah. But he wants to but he cancels it, he walks away. Yeah, he's oh the priest was like, the Lord wants you to do what's right.
SPEAKER_03So listen to like the voice in your head is the Lord saying, yeah. And he's the the priest is even trying to talk to him, he's like, yeah, alright, alright. I got it, I got it.
SPEAKER_02I got it, he fucking cuts him off and then he leaves. And then that's when it it uh and then does it go back to George Clooney trying to give that speech at the end? Or no? Does it end with or does it end with confession? Because I feel like it starts with confession and ends with confession. Maybe.
SPEAKER_03But we didn't talk about the George Clooney scene because he's giving that epic like everybody around him, everybody around making the film a screen.
SPEAKER_02So what's funny too is like the earlier when the guy's freaking out, but like, I don't know where George Clooney is. Like today we're filming the big speech at the Penti and Thief at the Pentif. It's the end of the film. And I love that he says that because it's literally the end of the movie.
SPEAKER_00They cover the show.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Whoa. Something like that happens in Spider-Man, and I want to tell somebody about it because I noticed it this time that I watched it. Okay, so you gonna tell?
SPEAKER_03Huh? Who do you want to tell?
SPEAKER_02Anybody.
SPEAKER_00I want to tell somebody.
SPEAKER_02I want to tell you since you're right here, but I'll have to tell somebody who's already seen Spider-Man. You can tell me, I don't really care. I can't. I really can't. Oh, you don't want to do. No, it's a big spoiler right too. But I'm not gonna go watch it, bro. Not yet. Not this week, dog. Next week. Um I lied to you, I didn't get the Odyssey tickets, I just got spider tickets.
SPEAKER_00I imagine I would have insane. I should have done that to you.
SPEAKER_01I'm just kidding, you would have walked out.
SPEAKER_00You No, I was gonna drive you, you would have no choice.
SPEAKER_03Would you rather watch me walk would you rather we're gonna be able to do that?
SPEAKER_02Let's watch Odyssey first. Because we want it to go before we leave. No, I really want to know what you think about it, especially because of how you feel about Nolan, about this one's good, this one's not so good. Yeah. I really want to know what you think. And then also, how do you feel about Mount Damon already?
SPEAKER_03You said you're Umber. I actually fucking loved him in Interstellar. Okay. I thought his his um his casting and his the part he plays is fucking perfect. I think it's so beautiful. Um but outside of that, like, yeah, he's alright. It's cool. How do you feel about the Born Identity movies? I think I like them. Okay. Alright. That's all I'll say about that for anything.
SPEAKER_02Because we still kind of need to talk about Burner after reading of fucking centers, dog. Because I'll say that.
SPEAKER_03Nothing else you want you don't want to end uh uh you don't wanna maybe say something about just Hail Caesar as a whole, maybe. I think is it a special movie for you?
SPEAKER_02It is special and it's not even super emotional. It's not that sentimental, only in the fact that it's sentimental about movies, I guess. Yeah, I'll say this.
SPEAKER_03I wanna like I wanna say this because when I I asked, like, why do you like this movie so much after I watched it? Because I was like, yeah, right, it's good. But like it ain't burn after reading to me, in my own humble opinion. That's okay. It's not no control man, it's nothing. It's not the Big Lebowski. Like it's not that level of film for me. I could see that. And so I was just like, what makes this?
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna say, like, Big Lebowski is outside it's outside of all of them for me, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like you're not even like I don't compete you can't even compete with this. You can't even compete with this type shit. Kinda, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like Lebowski is just because it it hit me so hard for one that one when I was at that young age where I'm like, I can't even take sure as a Cohen. I don't know, it's so weird.
SPEAKER_03So it's like that movie's just that's your movie. He is him. It's like I don't look I don't even really look at Step Brothers as like a Will Farrell movie.
SPEAKER_02Oh. I kinda do, I guess. I guess the Adam McKay movies, that's how I look at them too. Only because I know better from there.
SPEAKER_03Well I guess I also I mean I only I didn't really care for Tal Dagonights, and I watched Anchorman 1 and 2. So it's like I guess.
SPEAKER_02And they did the Sherlock and Holmes movie. Hell yeah, and I never saw that. I put that on like last week when my back was out. I passed the fuck out. I didn't watch it all. And the five minutes I saw before passing out, it was horrible.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, and also You didn't say you got your back blown out. They told me you hurt your back, I was like, motherfucker comes in an hour and a half later with this. I forgot, I forgot. Because I also did want to, you know, I wanted to make sure you're okay. That's fair.
SPEAKER_02Uh but yeah. Yes, people. I was stretching it throughout my back. I'm okay now. No, but you blew up my back better than myself. I did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I did. Fuck, what were we talking about? Um yeah, no, uh, what I want to say about Hail Caesar for you, where it's like at least something special for you is that like the love letter it is to cinema. Yeah to making movies and movies in general. I think it's a good thing. And for me, what I liked uh so much about this was that focus on like what it says about making movies and how they create an image for the people and how they make the movies and stuff. I that's what I thought.
SPEAKER_02I mean that was interest that's also interesting. It was bigger back then because that was the studio system, which was different than we have now, and it's like that's why everyone has like a nine to five job, the studio owns your rights. That's why it's all that kind of thing.
SPEAKER_03I'm hoping I'm explaining myself correctly. No, you absolutely but like that's what I find interesting for this movie. I love that movie. That's like it's redeeming quality for me. I love that then. That's what I'll take it. That's why it's it's a movie.
SPEAKER_02It's good. I'm not saying it's bad.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I just mean like you really like burn after reading more, that's all. Oh yeah. I love that. I still enjoy it. It's funny because I enjoy it too, just not as much as you do. Because like just watching that one. Well, then you know.
SPEAKER_03I feel like I'm not even I feel like it's wrong to compare them. I'm just kind of making adjustments. Because they're comparing it. I get it.
SPEAKER_02But it's also each of their movies are so different. You know what I still want to do? I still want to watch True Grit with you, or just in general.
SPEAKER_03Because that's one of theirs, but that's That's fucking Jeff Bridges.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Wait, yeah, it is Jeff Bridges, yeah. Yes. I keep confessing. No, no, no, no, it is. It's Bridges, it's Jeff Bridges. I thought we were talking about Jeff Daniels for a second. But no, we're not. We're talking about Jeff Bridges. Uh yes, that's Bridges and Brolin's in it real quick. And Matt Damon's in it. And I want to know I want to know what you feel about Matt Damon in that one. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Who else was in Alice Damien? And from where she in. Where will where was she in? She was in Hawkeye. Or what are you getting at? Pitch perfect?
SPEAKER_03Sinners.
SPEAKER_02That's okay, wait. Do you really want to give up and burn up the reading before you transition like that? Because that was smooth as fuck what you just did. Yeah, let's talk about Sinnership. Okay, Berly, let's get into it. Because we're already an hour and thirty minutes and I can talk about Sinner for like Forever. So, that was one of my favorite movies of 2025. Yeah. I know you said enjoyed Eddington.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, I I don't think it's better than Eddington. No. I guess. I fucking love well, I guess I shouldn't say I love it. I've only seen it once. But you enjoyed it so. I've seen it. You saw some of it at work 45 minutes twice. Okay. And I really wasn't paying attention to people. Well, 45 minutes, let's say, like at at lunch, right? And then I re-watched it at home. Okay. So right? And then I saw the rest of the movie, then I saw the movie as a whole. You know what I'm saying? Like at home. So I saw some at work and then I restarted. From from home. Like when I bought it. No, from the very beginning. Okay. Because um watching at work, we were like joking around kind of like some shape where I didn't understand completely. So I was like, oh.
SPEAKER_02But I love that I intrigued you so much is still in bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It was like, oh shit. Like this kind of like I didn't. I don't know. I didn't expect this movie to fucking kind of be good. Like, I just like it.
SPEAKER_02I'm happy to talk about it because Yeah, let's talk about it. There were so many moments about that. Okay. I did see that with Ellie. So for a little while that fucking movie was associated with her, but then like I re-watched it and I was like, this movie's so good, I don't even think about her. It's so bad right now. It's like it was one of those first things during the fucking breakup that I could fucking handle, kinda, you know? Okay. And uh and I fuck, but I fucking love that movie though. And then again, because like dude, just I love characters, I love performance, they had all of it. And I'm not gonna lie, I do like a vampire movie. I I like vampires. I've come to realize I don't consider them scary, even though I know there are some scary vampire movies, maybe.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like those are kind of just like go for the vibey fucking vampire. Yeah, those things are like just so unbelievable. In the sense that they're grounded in the sense outside of everybody. Like the they're grounded, just everybody like vampires aren't grounded. So it's like I don't know if I'm I'm not explaining myself correctly. But sinners are grounded, so like vampire stories are in the real world. Okay. So they're grounded in that sense, but it's just like this one particular thing being vampires, that's not grounded.
SPEAKER_02And that to me that really destroys or like it takes away horror because it's like Again, they call this horror, yeah, but I don't think it's horror. It was Did they call it was it horror? And that's why they were like, this was one of those. There's moments, I mean like the beginning when he's walking in the church and then the quick cut. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, dude. And then I remember forgetting that. I like when I walked in the theater and we were watching that, and I was like, oh fuck, like I I actually flinched when I saw this.
SPEAKER_03Which, but okay, so jump scares are kind of easy to do though, honestly.
SPEAKER_02And then the way they did that one too, like not even Curry Barker's jumpscares, they just did one frame. They just did one quick just to throw you off a little bit. Like, bam. Like I don't even miss, yeah. Yeah. And I fucking miss it's like, don't forget what this movie's about. Because it's like the whole rest of the No, come on, I want to hear you do it.
SPEAKER_03I didn't know what to expect going into this movie.
SPEAKER_02So first of all, also, I didn't know it was vampires until an Instagram Instagram image showed Haley Steinfield bloody in mouth and it kind of spoiled that. And so I knew that going in. But prior to that, I was like, it's Ryan Kugler who did Black Panther one and two, and I like them.
SPEAKER_03He's gonna do X-Files, I think.
SPEAKER_02He's gonna do X-Files. I didn't see Fruit Veil Station. Um That's also Michael B. Jordan. That's also Michael B. Jordan. Yeah, and they did Creed together. They did Creed 1 together at least. Because somebody else did Creed 2 and then Michael B. Jordan. Yeah, Michael Michael B. Jordan did one too, right? So yeah, so they did so Ryan and Ryan Coogler and Michael Jordan have a lot of fucking films together as star director, and I fucking so I'm like, if they're working together, I'm gonna see it. Just like it's Scorsese and De Nero or Scorsese and DiCaprio. Like, if it's automatic pairing, I'll watch some shit like that. So I was down for whatever centers is gonna be, and like I was like, I think it's meant to be kind of scary. Like, I just remember the teaser when you see smoke rolling a cigarette and shaking at the end of the movie, kinda. What the fuck's going on? And then I was just and then there was an image of twins too, and then I remember.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like that's kind of like cousin.
SPEAKER_02Nah, I fucking love it.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna get a Sinners town board. I'm sorry, you're right, bitch. Sorry, he don't sleep.
SPEAKER_03That's such a fucking great bit, bro. Because when I first saw that, I was like, wait, are they actually cousins? Like, and it's just kind of like funny that they look the same. But no, they are uh twins both smokestack. Smokestack. Bro. Smokestack twins. Oh god.
SPEAKER_05Okay, what's that? Okay.
SPEAKER_03Oh, uh, my I want to because you talked about like, oh, what's this trailer about? Yeah. And like, oh, I got despoiled from like they saw a picture of uh Steinfeld Bloody or whatever. Um I never looked at it. Did you like her in this movie a lot? Yeah, she was fine. Okay. She was fine. Okay. Um it that much.
SPEAKER_02No, but it's like a lot of people were like, this is her getting to be like rated R. Because she's kind of a Disney star right now because of the hot guy shit. And like pitch perfect. Yeah. It's like this. Yeah, let's go. They do. Okay, like this. Like ice cream. Ice cream you uh that ain't hard because that's how you want to move your tongue, bro. Well can we can't turn this into sex podcast? I can talk about Plotsy Cream for a couple hours.
SPEAKER_03That's not how you said, like, oh, that was spoiled for me, how she's bloody. Yeah. I You already knew it was a vampire movie. Yeah, but I didn't know well It's already been out for I didn't know what it Yeah, I didn't I didn't really know what it was. I've only seen bits and I've seen like a meme of uh of Steinfeld going like Boy get the fuck out of my face. That's a bit thousands of that's a meme. Boy get the fuck out of my face. Um so I didn't really know what to expect, but like as I was watching it, it kind of turned into like uh a survival movie, and I didn't expect that at all. So I was just like, oh yeah, this is fucking good.
SPEAKER_02I love when they do the old premise about vampires have to be invited in. And that's why, like, because back to being vampire stuff, and I was like some vampire lore, that's like that's Lost Boys had that rule. A couple other movies have that rule, like some shit has that rule. That's some type of vampire rule. Like I think Nasferat spoilers, Nasferatu might have that rule. Um and but I was just like, once you know that, you know that they're gonna be. I was like, bro, they're gonna have to stay somewhere, and it's their own the juke joint, bro. A place that's ours, so we can finally be free. I don't know if I told you, but one of my names for my apartment is the Duke, the juke joint, bro. I call this the jukebook, yeah. Okay. It's Lachaise Giving. And it's the Juke joint, bro. Yeah. And um or I call it the juke joint in my head, yes. Uh I'm gonna start saying that more out loud than making a thing. I'm gonna get a sign now, you're right.
SPEAKER_03I didn't say I'm right. There you are though, bro. I saw it in your eyes. But also, okay, so I kind of want to say um Michael B. Jordan playing two people. Let me hear it. To me, that comes off as like Oscar bait. Okay. Which um did win the Oscar for it. Yeah, he did. He did. Uh but I liked it. You liked it. And I like so different. Yeah, and I like the um what like I said, like when we're watching Hail Caesar, I was like, I don't really watch performances, like I don't watch a movie for performances. If it sticks out, then okay. Um what stuck out to me immediately was I think it might be like the like one of the earlier scenes they're in, they're standing next to each other and they're splitting a cigarette. That's right. And I was just I love that that they're interacting.
SPEAKER_02Apparently that was hard to do.
SPEAKER_03Apparently that was very hard to do. Because it's like you imagine like, okay, they're not gonna be able to do it. I don't know how they do it here. Yeah, he's gonna be a little bit more than like just filming it, you could be like, okay, we'll have these, we'll have Michael B. Jordan standing on the side of standing on the hood, and then we'll have him standing on the trunk. And then we'll just shoot it twice and we'll just edit it to her there. But like him like splitting the cigarette, it was just like unnecessary. Doesn't have to happen, but the fact that it happened, I was like, that's fucking cool. Yes, I love that. And then like I I don't think it's um when you show I don't think it shows them that much, but like when the snake when the snake happens and he tosses a knife to the other, and it's like just little interactions like that. I love when they hug, yeah, bro. And then the um the death scene where uh I forget which one goes with which one. I forget which ones. Who's the one with Steinfeld? You know the stack? Oh, I know.
SPEAKER_02So when he Because I love both I love both brothers' stories with their women. I love the fin I love how each story ends, basically, or I guess Stack and Steinfeld don't end. You know, but like I dude, like and I love also like how they both have history with these women.
SPEAKER_03Like, dude, like the other one, smoke, fucking.
SPEAKER_02Didn't I tell you staying for me? Yeah, yeah, you did, and then you told me you loved me and you fucked me so hard. Dude! And then you stuck in dungeon my cruiser or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yes, bro! And then she was like, Do you remember falling asleep on my chest with your head on my chest? And then you snuck out in the Dude, dude.
SPEAKER_02Okay, there is another, you want to talk about a vocal stim? It's when she confronts him in the club, and then he's just like, and they talk about how they didn't know how they're gonna what they were gonna kinda do, and they made that scene, like they kind of improvise that scene. Where he literally he's like, he takes off his hat, he's like, What do you want me to say? That I that I love you, that I thought about you every single day. Dude, I think about that getting chills and love them, dude. I love that so hard. And then like, even Smack uh smack, even smoke, throwing them together. It's stock and smack. Stock and smack. Even smoke and um Annie. Smoke and Annie's uh relationship, bro, and even the fact that they lost a child, and it's like dude, I love he's like Papa's home, and then he just puts my father in the grave, and then and there's like a small handprint on the rock of the burial site, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And back to where where he's dying because he shoots up the KKK later on. Fuck yeah, and his vision was so peak. Okay, his vision with having the child. Dude, it's that was really powerful.
SPEAKER_02I was like, oh wow. Dude, that was that part. Even Ellie was like, she was like, I was crying a little bit. Like she teared up on that part, and I was like, dude, dude, I was I was balling the whole time. Dude, and I lost it. Okay, yeah. No, but even but no, even we were already there at the end of that, how she's all like, Elijah, like put that smoke, put that smoke I don't want that smoke to get on her.
SPEAKER_00And then it's like they called them smoke, bro.
SPEAKER_02That's why she's like, No, like you be yourself, you don't have to be the bad image you put. Okay, but even when he sees her and they they have their first dude, I love how they're fighting and they go from fighting to fucking real quick, and I'll be like, let's go, alright, I'll love it. And uh and I love how dude, like, and I there's another vocal stems too, is their entire conversation, and then she's all like, and and she was like, You still got that that juju bag I gave you, and then he's like, Yeah. And then uh even how she like he was like, This never did it really keep me safe, and she was like, You fool. And then because he was like, I've been everywhere and I've seen men kill all kinds of millions, and all they know is power, and all you know, and I'm just oh, even when he was and then she calls him a fool and talking about there's other things more powerful than power, you know, there's other things out there than what you think, and then he's like, Then why didn't that protect our baby then? And then she's just like, I don't know. And I was just like, But it protects you, yes, dude, but it worked for you, and then it's like yeah. And then she's like, Your body didn't forget me, and the sticks getting hard with her clothes, like, let's go. And I was just like, Okay, they f and he's like, okay, come f can you please come make some fish out. And then she's all like, okay. And then uh and then but I love bro, okay. Even talking about them, how do you feel about Preacher Boy Sammy? Cause they I heard a whole story about them finding that actor. Like, do you like do you like his voice? Do you believe he's a voice he's a good voice that can make a demon want to come get it? Like a fucking. Sure, yeah. It's whatever. Do you not really care about like no matter I guess he had to sound good, but like but that's it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, like you mean like the music, yeah. Like him singing and stuff? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Cool, yeah. And then his acting was whatever, like he is good, like he did what he had to do.
SPEAKER_03Like, uh uh, I think like, yeah, like his uh I don't like you said, like there's some big deal about getting it. So there's a little bit of a story.
SPEAKER_02I'll tell you. So I heard Ryan Cooler, because it was like I follow the director's Guild of America podcast, and so like every once in a every every year when they announce the nominees for the director for the like the academy, you know, um they have them all come up there and they all talk together. You know, there's like a one moderator and he asks them all the questions and stuff. So like that year for sinners for this well, I guess that would have been earlier 2026, but for the 2025 films. And Ryan Kugler was talking about like, oh no, like that kid is an actual rap artist, like he's an actual singer right now, and he already makes music and he's touring and stuff. So like that kid already he knows how to perform and he has like stage presence, yada yada. They're talking about like he was like, we tried to call him back, but we couldn't get a hold of him. And then he and then he was like, and I found out like my casting director got like an like saw him on Instagram and his mom posted on Instagram and that he was just graduating high school. So that kid like gra like he like and they're talking about like so yeah, like and he got the and he graduated high school and then he got the job. But like prior to that, like it's because he had an audition and they talk about like he was nervous, he came in nervous, and he it was kind of a bad audition, and Michael B. Jordan takes him outside. And Ryan Cooper's like, I don't know what the fuck he told him. But he that boy came back an actor. He he walked back in that door an actor, and then he was just like, Michael B. Jordan told him, like, gave him some advice or something, and then he did enough job, a good enough job. He got the job after that audition. But like you said, it was hard to get a hold of him because it turns out he was touring and then he had to graduate real quick, and then they found out oh he graduated high school, so now he has the fucking time to be in this movie type shit. So like that kid has a cool ass fucking real life story, bro.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh and so I know that casting, I fucking the The Chinese lady, the mom in this, I think. Oh Li Lun Li Li I don't want to butt. I don't remember. Um She's in the Nick Cage Spider Noir show.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she's she's pretty good in that. But I love her in this fucking movie, even though she even though she lets him in.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude. I love it!
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, she goes She fucking screamed. She fucking screams. So this is where it's gonna get a little tech nerdy because this movie was like IMAX type shit, and like I got to I think I saw it in IMAX, I got the fucking tickets. And the ratio changed.
SPEAKER_03And there's ratio changed on on my guys watching it too.
SPEAKER_02See, that's so sick. Normally I don't really notice that the first time.
SPEAKER_03I don't normally notice it either. Because I remember the opening shot was completely full, and then like yeah, it goes back to white screen where the bars, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh dude, when she so it ha this is one of the first times I noticed it, first watch of a movie, and I was just like, She's like, Come in, motherfuckers, and then it's black bar, it cuts to Remy outside, and he's all like, he smiles because he's like, I can come inside. Comes back to the back of the bar, the barn doors, and then it goes fucking big, and then they get the guns and then they fucking do it, and I was just like, let's fucking go for that crazy big fight at the fucking end, dude. And even but even before okay, but even before we get to that, but I just that was one of the instances where I was like, dude, I saw the form of the ratio change, and then it's like I never really paid like I was and then I saw it and it hyped me up because I was like, they're literally expanding right now for the fucking for the big fucking fight right now. Like they're going it's like they went super singing mode in front of me, is what I thought like when I was watching it, bro. I was like, this movie just went super singing and just it leveled up and powered up. It literally did, it leveled up and bottomed out. I was just like, let's go. And I was just dude that hyped me so much, and every time I see it it does. And the fucking So uh I remember so I remember I asked you too, how did you feel about like the music scene? Like I caught I basically the music video scene, because a lot of people either they either made it or broke it for people. And I know like that was a lot of people's feedback, because another homie saw that, he's like, Yeah, that was fucking stupid. And I was just like, No, you're stupid.
SPEAKER_03I thought at first when I like I said, I saw it at work. I thought it was stupid. I was like, um what the fuck's that like I I felt like oh I kind of understand what you're saying, but without even get without even getting it fully. And then when I watched it at home with the narrator talking about it, it kind of it hit better. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02I kind of liked it better. Because how like they say her speech is from the it's repeated from the beginning. How they were like, sometimes things they could conjure spirits from the past and future, and then they bring her lying in again right at the beginning of that, and then we start singing the fucking spirits from the past and the future, bro. And I was like, ah yeah, and I was just like, they literally did some showdown talesite shit, which is some basic filmmaking shit one-on-one, bro. That's all. Yeah, I liked it, I thought it was cool. Fuck yeah, dude. And then I love too how it ends with the vampires there, like the walls burned away and they're just chilling, yeah. He's just like, oh shit, I see what I want, I want what's in there, and oh dude. And then even the vampires all having their own fucking Irish jig out on the fucking side, singing in the fucking halls of Blackthorne type shit. Yeah. He just also I think it's also a vampire just really loves music, bro. That's all. That's all that's coming down to. Sure. Music sings to the soul, I guess, and he was like, my soul's trapped in my body. And I fucking but yes, I love the way Smoke ended up with Annie. Well, they ended up with Annie together in the afterlife. And he's sad that he had to kill her after she got bit real quick by his own brother. And even Sherry, she's like, No, not you. Like, bro, when he's biting her, I was like, and then but Stat gets to be a vampire with Hilly Steinfeld, they get to go be vampires later.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Bro, like, even the way this movie took the turn of she went and she got bit real quick, she's trying to help them out, which I love, but because of that, like we're fucked up. And even fucking cornbread letting her in, and then when cornbread comes back from TV. No, no, no. That dialogue was smooth. That was, she was smooth as fuck. Yeah. And he knew her already.
SPEAKER_03But I uh does it um he does say, well, come on in. You know, but I'm saying, like, does it did it establish already that vampires need to be invited in at that point? Kind of, sort of, because the introduction of the vampire, he's burning. He's he's burning in the sunlight. And then he goes to that house and he's like, oh, please let me uh like whatever help me out or whatever. So it kind of just establishes I mean, I'm not I don't really give a fuck about I don't give a fuck about vampires. So like I've heard that this there's this rule. I didn't know there's a fucking rule where like they all share the same brain. Wherever the fuck that was. That's some new high. That's some new shit.
SPEAKER_00But like if you kill their maker and they'll probably die some shit that happens.
SPEAKER_02They don't some do, some don't guy. That's always.
SPEAKER_03No, they feel the pain. But I think that even during the diet because they get fucked up. They all die because of the sun. And that's why um Haley Steinfeld and Michael B. Jordan are left, yeah. Because they're in the barn.
SPEAKER_02And if if they killed them all, then he wouldn't, they wouldn't die too. But so I mean they can choose some lures, but I just I like that.
SPEAKER_03I don't even I don't even think that's I'm not even talking about like, oh, like they should have been connected.
SPEAKER_02I just mean like I thought that was like he he bit the Chinese guy, he could speak Chinese and he knows all their memories.
SPEAKER_03Because when I immediately when I saw this and like right, because like after uh which one dies? Stacks? Stack gets bitten, stacks, stack gets bitten, they kick everybody out, and then I assume that's how they get most of them, right? Because there's now there's a big crowd of vampires, and they're all fucking dancing and singing, and I'm just like, did this guy fucking teach them all the uh because they knew it in his mouth?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, but yeah. So you write the hive mind thing kind of. Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_03So that's just something I didn't really get.
SPEAKER_02I don't really know. There's a little I mean if you read some Anne Rice, I think there's like memories of the blood. And when they suck blood, they're gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm just I don't know. I just I don't know, like I said, I don't really care or know about vampires. I don't look into them, I don't know rules. I don't know if this is just like for them or or for this movie. All of the above.
SPEAKER_02Or some m like I said, some memories and the blood type shit. Yeah, they don't have like a hive mind where they have everybody's perfect memory type shit. Yeah. But I just he's just like, let's just be connected, guys. Yay. And uh I don't know, but it it fucking works. But I'm glad you're right. They all just died because they all just get stuck out there because they felt his pain, I guess. Yeah. But I guess they just felt the pain, and then that's how fucked up they are being that connected. Because he did say, like, let's become a family. He made it very family, very mancony- if you ask me. Very culty, yeah. But okay. One thing also was.
SPEAKER_03He That was kinda cool. Um I guess okay, I guess uh because he wants to sing or because he wants to preach your boy, I guess. Because he wants to cover his own spirits of his past because he misses his own. But why not go into town if if they're not letting you in? They're probably going to, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Like we're gonna. Well, why wait till you're gonna be able to do He just wants Sammy? He just I have all night to fuck with these people in this barn.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I guess. I don't know. I just felt like if the vampires wanted to win this fight, they could have gone away, got bigger numbers, and then They already had the numbers kinda, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I guess.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh maybe they didn't want to risk them sneaking away while everybody leaves. Unless they I mean they could always leave a vampire behind to scout, I guess. Yeah, I don't know. But uh or they just wanted to dance, bro. He was just happy that he came up with a spend their money. I mean, he was by himself and he was like, I just got like 20 more people right now, let's go. Like 20, 30. Oh, they just want to spend their money. Yeah. They did it. Our money, our just want to sing some songs. Why to make people happy or to bring happiness to this world? That's what they say. That's what cornbread says when they're like, Oh yeah. What are you trying to do? Yeah. And I love that part. He's like, shut up, woman. And she's like, no, no, no, but like, don't talk to me like that. Like, admit it, you already did. And then you're like, what? And they killed you. Mm-hmm. Damn, bro. Admit it, you hate already. And I love dude, I like how they all make him eat garlic. Dude! How do you feel about fucking What the fuck is his name? But Daloi Lindo character, the older fucking jazz man with the harmonica that they get to play with him. Dow Roy Slim! Dow Royce. How do you feel about him and his fucking He's just such an alcoholic, but even then he was just I thought he thought he was a good character.
SPEAKER_03And his sort of last effort to save everybody. Yeah. And I like how he cuts himself to attract him, I assume. And he goes real fast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he brought him a couple more seconds, yeah. Just the fight up there, and he was just like, he was like, no matter what, Sammy, I'll protect you too. He's like, we're bonded through music, I feel like, bro.
SPEAKER_03He he's like uh if the devil comes for you, he's gonna have to go through me first. That goes for all of you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So alright, bro, there's some like a redemption. I like when he was eating the garlic and he was like and he's like, I got it, I got it.
SPEAKER_03It just didn't mix with the alcohol in his system. And that fucking bitch, bro. The one that uh creature boy gets eats out. Yeah, she was fucking I don't wanna eat this.
SPEAKER_02Bro, I was like, they were gonna fucking shoot you. I was yeah, I was like, just eat the fucking garlic girl. Yeah, like that's what they even tell me.
SPEAKER_03Like really, like you're gonna fucking You sing all the time. You saw what you saw what garlic did to him. Like no. Yeah, and it's like that's the point of it, I guess. Somebody doesn't know garlic. Yeah. I feel that. Yeah. Also, she's married, bro.
SPEAKER_02She's a little bit of a fucking She's married, but she was like, Sammy sings so good and he eats ice cream so good. And the song she sings is really cool. That song is pretty cool. I like that. That song went on the playlist too. Like, I like the movie from this movie too, bro. I picked Red Robin Queen. I don't like that one. I don't really like that. Neither did fucking the Chinese mom, bro. She fucking that was tormenting her, bro.
SPEAKER_00And they fucking come in, motherfucker.
SPEAKER_03Well, okay, they threatened to get the kid. They did. And they could like you for sure. They could have gotten to the town and gotten everything. For sure gotten that child. Her dad would have been like, come on in, dad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like fucking, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Let me all she'd have to do is oh, I've dropped my keys, let me in. Or some shit, right? But yeah, they for they're not. Come on here, daughter, I'm your father. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's why I don't like she's like, I totally understand her character. Um I would have been worse than that. Also too, when they're I thought um because uh he speaks Taiwanese, I think it says. Um but right, so like she's uh talking, she's like, he just both spoke fucking Chinese. I never heard a white man speak yeah speak like so um they're Chinese, right? Um but I thought when it's that music video thing happening, she she approaches her husband and grabs him to dance. I thought there was a Japanese lady. Oh I I think it must be a Chinese.
SPEAKER_02It's ancestors of their past, yeah, yeah. But I thought it was a Japanese, all right.
SPEAKER_03It's just like one of my Japanese anime.
SPEAKER_02You're watching hentai. He's watching hentai. That's what I mean. This is bad. Bad movie starts ever quicker. Nah, we twins. No, because I fucked up button.
SPEAKER_01We are twins.
SPEAKER_03I wasn't really you are. I understood the reference though.
SPEAKER_02You did it. The soundboard gag is killing it. That was me pressing a button. There's no button to press the button. That was me talking. That's the soundboard. The soundboard gag is killing it. That's it, bro. I wanna like that this was that was easy button that Staples used to have, or whatever, or on this deep note. Yeah. Um fuck, dude. Like, okay. Do you what else did you want to specifically say five? Uh okay, even real quick while you're thinking, like, it ends Sammy Boy 30, 60 years later as an old man in 1993. Early 90s. 93 or whatever, and stack and Haley Steinfield come back in as vampires. And I love that they talked, like, they they have a chill conversation, bro. And that's I like when they were like, oh, they wanted to they need to come in, they want to be invited in or something like that.
SPEAKER_03They gave us a couple hundred bucks. Is it cool?
SPEAKER_02And then when they I was like, when it's like, come on in, yeah, and it was all fucking creepy, and it was like, oh, and I was like, oh no, like poor preacher boy, and he's like, you know, at least once a week I wake up in fucking terror every night about that night, you know, and he's like, but before the sun went down, that was the best day of my life. What about saying for you? Yeah, and he was like, Yeah, it was.
SPEAKER_03And there's also too the part where he goes, uh I I I like hey he goes like how'd you survive? And he goes like uh he promised me not to come after you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, stay away from you so until you're about to die, basically. He's like, like, the cancer on you or something like that. He's like I can I can fix, I can help you or something like that. He's like, no. And I like how he even told him, like, I don't like your electric shit, I like the acoustic stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But his uh his response to you know, like saving him and he's like, I've been here long enough. Yeah, he's like, no, thank you, I don't want to live longer. So I like that part.
SPEAKER_02Um then they play for him, and he plays music for his cousin and his and her and his boyfriend for a little bit, and then they say go I like how they hug goodbye and then that's that part was spoiled for me actually.
SPEAKER_03Why? Because uh the part of them being at the end. Yeah. Because uh that was like a pretty big meme. I don't know if you remember that. I don't know. What was the meme of it? Um the one that I saw it stuck with me was that the most annoying interracial couple is gonna dress up. Yeah, and so that's what really stuck out for me because it was fucking that was a funny joke. So it was like that stuck out with me. And um Damn, I'm sorry the government. No, that's all right. But I I was actually kind of like I knew I knew going into that, I was like, I don't how are they gonna survive? But it makes sense. And 'cause you don't see it, but then they ran away. Mm-hmm. Good, yeah. And then I know Oh two, hold on. Uh during that big fight, um, because they do pr they do uh Annie and Smoke.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Make a promise like, or she makes him promise like if I turn, you kill me. So when she gets turned, she kills him, and uh Steinfeld's character is name. She says no. She's like, Because they the plan was that they live together forever. Yeah. And so I just thought I thought that was interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and because they still were family. She's family.
SPEAKER_03That's why she's here. And um the death of the brother, he's like, he's she it's played very grounded where he's like, she she he's not moving, he's fucking gushing out blood. He's like, she bit me, she bit me. And then I'm scared. His brother's cradling him, and he's like, I'm scared, I'm scared. Dude, when he's like and yeah, and like smokes. Smoke is just like fucking Bro.
SPEAKER_02I love how when Smoke just sees her fucking eating him and he's just instantly. He just draws on Haley's time. He's known them all. And he just knows her, they've known each other like their whole fucking lives, and he was like, What the fuck? She killed my brother, I'm drawing down, dude. And then I like when she gets we're gonna kill every last one. Yeah, that was like scary.
SPEAKER_00Yes, dude, and I was like, let's go.
SPEAKER_02And so that's when I realized that's the part I had spoiled. Like the image I saw was her smiling after her sensitive.
SPEAKER_03Those eyes look really cool, dude. Those eyes are cool. The way the This was visually a good looking movie.
SPEAKER_02Fuck yes, my king. Fuck yes, it was. His cinematographer is like, I think she's like half Filipino, half black lady. Because it's him, her, his wife, and Michael Ryan, Ryan Kugler. Uh and Michael B. Jordan, and I believe they all started a production company, it's Proximity Media. Because I follow them all on fucking Instagram too. And it's like, but Ryan Kugler works with his wife. Like Christopher Nick. And I was like, oh, and uh this guy. You look so ee peas. Are you getting tired? Because I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm just uh just listening to you.
SPEAKER_02No, just listening to you talk, but did I ever tell you you have wise eyes? That's gonna make sense later. And you're gonna look at me in the theater and oh yeah, it's mad. You're gonna hit the soundboard, like this is bad. That's the movie's bad. This is bad, this is bad. Uh no, but like I said, like so I love that. It's almost like since there's both brothers, we got both possible endings. We got one of them being to live forever together, I guess. Being vampires together, and she it. And then, like we said, the way Smoke, well, Elijah and Annie end with their fucking baby reunited, yeah, all together. Okay. Okay, all of that, like, okay, bro, like, you we even talked about it earlier, but just the fact that yes, there is gonna be a big old KKK thing coming in the morning. And every time I watch it, it's like I forget because you're so yes, bro, like it's all about the vampire thing. You're just like, oh fuck, like, oh my shit. Even the vampire is like this guy has the fucking go ahead, what is your question?
SPEAKER_03Um Besides that part where the vampire is like, oh, like, see, this is the their cousins or whatever. Like, he's actually gonna kill you. Um before that, it's just the talk in the beginning where he's like, if I see you or any of your clan members, like, oh fucking kill you right here, right now, or whatever. And he goes, like, oh, we're not the clan, like, that doesn't exist no more.
SPEAKER_02That don't exist out here.
SPEAKER_03That didn't stick out to me at all.
SPEAKER_02I was like, okay, he's like, okay, like it's still probably a white guy that doesn't trust him, so that's why he's acting a little weird to stand off.
SPEAKER_03And then like these guys are black and they don't trust him. Yeah. And I was just like, they're probably moving. I didn't think empires. Yeah. Yeah. And um, but there is a scene where he's running into this he's running into that house. You see the hood. There is the hood, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I just thought, oh, maybe that's a reference to fucking um The Native American Empire, bro? Those guys are so bad. I was like, I want to see that prequel, bro. Like, let's see, or the sequel to the same fucking thing.
SPEAKER_03Sounds like the Make a movie on these movies. Make a movie.
SPEAKER_02You're fucking like making noises, like war cries or they fucking know what's going down. They're like, oh, uh, let's go, yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_03And then he gives them a little prayer or like offers them a little bit. He's like, good luck with that. Good luck.
SPEAKER_02If he's already in the house, you're fucked. And then even when she comes back in her house, that's a little creepy part, and he's just like, shh, asleep. And then he's all better now. Yeah, and they get up and they get her. Uh did you say you watched Gone Girl? This is a very random cutaway right now. Which one's that one? Ben Affleck and Rosamond Pike and she's gone. Yeah. Do you kind of remember how when the wife is undercover incognito being kidnapped, she goes to like this hotel and there's like a girl. Oh fuck, okay. Well, anyways, just uh the girl who the wife vampire in this who gets bit and she also sings with him. She's just in that movie too, that's all.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Yep. Alright.
SPEAKER_02I pick pole robbing clean. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think the song that um I think it's creepy fucking. No, the other song where they're all where he got up and turned a bunch of them. Yeah, and it's mostly him singing and they're like hyping his ass up. Yeah. I thought that was a really cool song.
SPEAKER_02That song was pretty cool too, I'm not gonna lie. And then I'm just like, he was excited to have a bunch of people sing and dance with him for a little while. Yeah. And he's like, that's why I want Sammy. He just sounds better. I don't know. Yeah, he does say that.
SPEAKER_03Like he's basically he says, like, I came for you. And he goes, and like he even says, like, I want your I want your songs or whatever. I want whatever. I want them, yeah. And I was like, oh fuck. And it was cool, the guitar that's this tied to who who is who do they say it's good it belonged to?
SPEAKER_02I guess some famous person that belongs to some other blues being.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and so he's like, What? And he ends up having to hit the guy and it I guess it's silver. That's that's actual silver. And so that thing it's like a disc stuck in his head, and there's that broken uh neck of the guitar that he stabs into his heart.
SPEAKER_02And that's what he's holding though the whole time. Remember when he's gonna be able to get it. In the beginning, yeah, and he doesn't let it go. And I love it, and then I love too that he was like, Stack's so full of shit, that was our daddy's guitar. And I love that because they even talk about how their daddy was so evil that once when they ran away to go live in some free black community or whatever, that they rejected him because they were like, We think you carry every evil and see because you respond to evil, and I was like, damn bro, and it's like fucking stack because well stacked state of vampire, he fucking kept the evil going. But or just even like they they committed patricide, bro, like smoke killed their daddy because he's gonna be able to do it. Yeah, he explains it uh. Yeah. It's like that isn't I guess that's a different type of evil, but it's like a necessary evil because we have to fucking protect his brother against his dad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And I'm just like, damn.
SPEAKER_02But like also, like, think about their fucking lives. These guys went to fucking they go they went to war real quick. They went to fucking World War I, and they went to do some bootlegging shit. Like for the ones for the Italians, ones for the Irish, yeah, Italian wine, Irish beer, like what do you think? Robin Bowl, yes, type of shit. Let's see that prequel too. What the fuck? That's true, yeah. Dude, yeah. Like, and so yeah, I love that. And they just come back to town, like, better the devil, you know. And it's just like they don't know this devil that's coming for them, oh fuck. And then, okay, back all that, just to when it's smoke is like, get out of here, Sammy, we survive the night. Well, get out of here, I still gotta deal with the KKK. And I'm just like, oh fuck, like, like, that's why I remember seeing it in the theater again, bro. I'm just like, I totally didn't even think this was still going down, or what's gonna happen. And I was like, smoke survived, like this is cool. Like, I thought he was gonna die, you know, die too. Like, I knew no matter what, Sammy's gonna get away, because we saw the beginning of the movie, yada yada. Yeah, and I was just like, no survivors, like what's gonna happen? And then take my car, get out of here, takes the car and gets out of here, and then he just goes there and he handles business and such a dude. Okay. This is where I was saying, where I was like, Timothy Chamley's not gonna win the Oscar. Oh, okay. It's because it's during this scene where he's shooting all these fucking white men, but it's also it's specifically, you know how he so he has the longer gun, right? And he shoots them from the bushes and stops and grenades. It's when he walks up, he leaves the bushes, the Tommy gun slow motion scene. I was like, this motherfucker was 40 feet, you know, it's a 40 feet fucking big screen, he's like he's just giant, and he just looks movie star, bro. And I'm like, there's just no denying the motherfucking aura cinema that he's losing right now.
SPEAKER_03I don't think he's uh better than uh Chalamet from Marty Supreme. I didn't know But that's what made Martin. I I am okay with him winning it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I again you know how much I love Marty Supreme. But then once I once I rewatched that scene, I was like, there is no point where Marty has this. Or Timothy has this, he doesn't get to do this in Marty. He just does, but maybe that also might just be the way the movie is and his character, because he does get to redeem himself and pick, dude, we gotta watch that movie again. Oh my god, we gotta watch that. Sinners? No, wait, well yes, no, Marty. Oh Marty Supreme, yeah, yeah. I think I told you everybody. I want I want I do want to rewatch it. We'll rewatch it. But but but I was seeing that, I was just like, Timothy was so good in driving, but I was like, there is nothing that movie-starred Aura the way Michael B. does when he's coming out with the fucking Tommy, bro.
SPEAKER_03I get ya. But that's why I was- I just don't do I just don't agree with that in the sense that like aura doesn't matter to me.
SPEAKER_00I know it doesn't for me because you're just saying that because I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03No. I'm saying that because that's what I think. But I like I said, like, I'm okay. That he wanted. I kind of did a 180 because I was kind of just like before watching it, I was like, I think I told you this when we watched it. I was like, bro, or like not before we watch or not when I watched it, but uh before when before he won, even I was like, bro, he's gonna win. It's diversity, he's gonna win because he's black.
SPEAKER_02And he played twins.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And here And I did I didn't mean that as a bad way, I was just like, come on.
SPEAKER_02Because of what the Oscars do that.
SPEAKER_03Oscars do that, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_02And it's funny because they've actually been more racist and they don't nominate and they don't win a lot. But that's maybe that also ties to that. Maybe they were like, maybe we should give it to Black Star because we don't do it enough.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, that's what I think anyway.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like it's more nefarious. It's so much more nefarious than we think.
SPEAKER_03But like he did he did a great performance. So it's like He did two great performances. No, this is one performance in one movie. He was two people. Yes, he was. It's two performances then. No. Because it's in one movie.
SPEAKER_02No, bud. You could do two different performances in one movie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But anyways. You just said, yeah, you disagree with me. You just disagree with everything you just said. Well, all I said was that he did one performance because it's one movie.
SPEAKER_02I know, but I'm saying it's two performances in a movie. That's fine. That's you can believe that. It is. No, now you're changing it up. You said yeah, a second ago. Just to that way we get so that way we get past the time.
SPEAKER_01I'll cut this out again.
SPEAKER_02I'll cut it out. This is bad. Bad if I move down. But but you were kind of talking about just how you you had the 180 experience of how no, he Well, 180 from a sense of like. You thought it was just kind of to him and it was earned. Yes.
SPEAKER_03But that was before you even saw the movie. Yeah. And then watching this movie, I'm like, alright, I'm okay with this. It's like a yeah, it's a good it's a good exactly.
SPEAKER_02If it didn't have to compete against if it wasn't the same year as Marty, do you think Marty would have got it then? Because I feel like the other nominee was also Leon one battery after another, and I don't think you're gonna watch that movie. And I don't even know how you feel about that movie. I think you might like Sean Penn's character in it, or his whole character's already.
SPEAKER_03I'm not interested in watching that movie.
SPEAKER_02See, you always say that, and then guess what happens when you watch it? You end up kind of annoying. Yeah? Uh but I'm not I don't know. Honestly, and that one I really don't think I don't know how much because that's like I said, sinners you might like, except uh music video might break make or break. But it's just the whole music scene. And then like I said, um or even ambulance. I was like, I don't know if you would, but I just like how unhinged Jake Linenhall is. Gyllenhaal. Linenholly. If you want to get correct about it.
SPEAKER_03Lillenholley?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's how he said it. That's how his fucking the actual Swedes or wherever the fuck he's from pronounced.
SPEAKER_03In here in America.
SPEAKER_02He was in America when he said that, because he was on the Conan O'Brien show. I know I've seen that before.
SPEAKER_01Running it tomorrow. Shut up.
SPEAKER_02Trying to be serious.
SPEAKER_03Blood get the fuck out of my face.
SPEAKER_01And then you got two seconds later, she was like, wait, let me buy the drink. Because she realized you love the drink.
SPEAKER_02That part's funny. Dude, even how the guy's playing cards and they all beat the shit out of him cheating, bro. I was like, let's go. I was like, good for everybody. Like, this guy's trying to cheat the table, get him out of here. Um God damn, but yes, I'm gonna like scenarios, bro.
SPEAKER_03I really, really, really liked it. It was totally it's totally different than what I thought it was. I walk I guess I don't even know what I thought it was gonna be. I just like I knew it was like a vampire movie, and I just I didn't understand why it was hyped. Now I kind of get why I was hyped.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I love that. Good. Came well into it on his album too. I didn't have to pressure you for sinner. It's like he's never gonna watch it. Wait, so but oh yeah, you said how, because you were watching it at work. I love that, bro.
SPEAKER_03And it kind of intrigued intrigued me enough so I was like, alright, I'm gonna watch it on my own.
SPEAKER_02Now we gotta ask Dame how he feels about it. You would you say this movie was peak?
SPEAKER_03I think you want me to say yes.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I do, because we wanted to fuck with Dame because he says we say peak too much, and he didn't say it at all, yeah. And Dame showed you this movie, so he showed you peakness.
SPEAKER_03Oh, he did show me a movie. And he certainly showed me a movie.
SPEAKER_02He said, It's this movie, guy.
SPEAKER_03Yes. This movie is not peaked. This guy's not trying to say.
SPEAKER_02Peak! What the fuck? You're saying I really, really, really like it, and you don't want to say it's peaked? No. Oh my god. Now he's not. I've only seen it once, bro. Now he's just doing this on purpose. You've seen it. Only seen once entire in its entire thing. Yeah, see. You gotta watch it more, bro.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. I might watch it.
SPEAKER_02I might rewatch it. No pressure. When you're ready. When you're ready.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02As soon as you leave them and put that shit on. Yeah. Oh yeah. I'll fall asleep too. Well, you know well, you know. Well, well, now we're about to get out there. I was like, I don't start we start an hour later on Mondays now. Oh yeah, we talked about this. I told you. That's why we're gonna go to 2 p.m. showing tomorrow. Yeah. It's 5 to 1.30.
SPEAKER_03Uh did you did you want to call the quits now and not talk about burning for reading?
SPEAKER_02No, we can. I was gonna say what else. Uh in my head, I was gonna kick you out at at least eight. Because I can go to bed at 10 now. Well, that's actually no, we probably should wrap it up kind of sullish. Alright. The better. Like we keep going until it's seven exactly if anything. But that's only 20 minutes for burn after reading, so do you want to say I'm cool with that? Yeah?
SPEAKER_03Let's talk about burn after reading for 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_02Let's do it, bro. Because you know, the movie's okay. I can't even I can't fuck with you like this.
SPEAKER_03I liked it a lot, I still know I can't. It's not even like, dude, like this movie is so fucking great. And it's so funny. It's so funny. It's fucking bad. It's so dark.
SPEAKER_02No, you're saying it is like that, though. Yeah. Okay, you just I was like, I thought you just said, like, it's not like you can it's not like it's this or that.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm saying, like, you can't, like, it doesn't matter what you say, like you're wrong. Oh, okay, gosh.
SPEAKER_02But I mean, I can't even joke. Because I told you, bro, we were still fucking bouncing. We talked about him dancing, we still like Brad Pitt in it. I still enjoyed it with you. I just didn't know it line by line like you did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, I've only seen that movie once. I feel like you've seen Burner Free on the ones, or no?
SPEAKER_02No, I've seen it a bunch of times. I remember I told you like there was a couple months earlier where I was that was the repeat movie right now. And then Hail Caesar is the reappear movie.
SPEAKER_03So that movie is just so easy to fucking re-watch, I feel like.
SPEAKER_02It honestly is. You cause it.
SPEAKER_03It's pretty short, it's fast.
SPEAKER_02And it jumps in the and like kind of jumps into it, he gets fired immediately, and then like it goes on from there and just I have a drinking problem.
SPEAKER_03You're Mormon. Compared to you, we all have drinking problems.
SPEAKER_04This is political.
SPEAKER_02Doing the fucking cross, bro. His arms, yo. See, see, Malkovich is good in it. Like we talked about Swokes, Tilda Swinton's amazing in it. I hammered. He's doing his favorite fucking bit vocal synth from this too. They also incorporate physical gestures. She does not hammer, has her hammering with her hand, which is fucking visually bag. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And there's also two, I don't know if we talked about it. What? Like on the podcast. I know we talked about it when I was watching it. But when she's having a meeting with her smirk, uh smirk for that little smirk she does. Ah I'm I love her.
SPEAKER_02I I wish I had a soundboard for you for her.
SPEAKER_03I wish you would smoke I wish that smirk was I don't know. I wish I could just witness that smirk in real life.
SPEAKER_02I feel like the smirk is your version of my Roman Silver's stupid thing. Like I just remember it. I love it. And so well, okay, what's the smirk for? Give us the situation real quick. It's divorce lawyer, right? Just meeting divorce lawyer?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and he's telling her, like, give her another, give it another chance. Like, I have to like legally or whatever, like, just tell you, and then I think he says, like, you can be a spy too, kind of thing. And then it's like a fake kind of smirk that he gives, like she gives, like, like scoffing at it, like just acknowledging him being somewhat polite.
SPEAKER_02And she goes, like, my husband's no fucking spy. I think that's what it also can mean too. That's true. Because he's like, he's a spy too.
SPEAKER_03She is constantly fucking belittling this man when they call him and he's like, uh, Osborne, gosh, we have your shit.
SPEAKER_00Such a good breath fit doing the creepy voice thing.
SPEAKER_01Um the rest of the time.
SPEAKER_04He hangs up and tilde. Tilda's twin. Oh shit, oh shit, the fucking table. I wanna punch you so you're like, he fucking he fucking hit me.
SPEAKER_03So after the call, Tilda's a twin.
SPEAKER_04You think that's a twin?
SPEAKER_03I don't even know if I'm doing the first thing. Uh but after so after that phone call, um, he's like, oh these two started again, you did that so good the very first time. He's uh these clowns, these two clowns, have my memoirs. He's like, why do you think who would God why don't who would ever think that's worth anything? Or don't like it. I butchered it, but like just the constant belittling of him.
SPEAKER_02Or even like, um, Ozzy, did you get this did you get the cheese for tonight?
SPEAKER_00She's like, for God's sakes, I was gonna have to do anything.
SPEAKER_02No, I have to go get it? She's like, he's like, I got fired.
SPEAKER_00Like, what do you mean? Why didn't you tell me? Tried, tried.
SPEAKER_02She does not hammer, bro. See your god. Now I wish we watched it too again right now. So that could have been line for line notes. I also feel like I was tired that day. Did we watch it after we podcast it? Or we watched it after we did a thing, right?
SPEAKER_03I think it's I don't remember.
SPEAKER_02Did we go to the movies and then came back in the house?
SPEAKER_03Maybe. I think that's what we did.
SPEAKER_02Was it obsession viewing two for you, I think, or three? Maybe. And then we came back. Maybe. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Perhaps.
SPEAKER_02Perhaps. Dude, just Brad. So George Clooney is in this one too, and he is banging Tilda Swinton, who having the affair of like in John Malkovich.
SPEAKER_03So Tilda Swinton is married to John Malkovich. George Clooney is married to Elizabeth Marvel.
SPEAKER_02That's her name.
SPEAKER_03Elizabeth Marvel, okay. And she's like an author not related to the story whatsoever. She's in Seattle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she's because she's gonna leave on a book tour, so he has the house to himself, and that's why he gets to bang Francis McDormand later. But he's also he's just George Clooney's banging everybody, apparently. He bangs Tilda, he bangs Francis, and at least some other lady because he even go gets another run-in. And then Frances McDorman's trying to find love, like Linda Litzke over here.
SPEAKER_03Just Linda Litzkey. Linda.
SPEAKER_02And then just she's trying to get money for plastic surgeries and all this, because that's what she wants, plastic surgery. Yeah. I have a public dealing job, okay? I have a public basing job. And it's just how my name is just I don't know.
SPEAKER_03A gent. A gent.
SPEAKER_02A gent. This what is it? This Mickey Mouse uh uh Mickey Mouse HMO. Oh, Mickey Mouse HMO. And then fucking the dad of stepbrothers, Richard James doing another just fucking he's in love with Francis McConnell. He's in love with her and He used to be a Greek Orthodox peace.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And she's like, oh she can work with that. Like, okay, we can get married and have a freaking family with that. And it's like, no, he's an Orthodox Peace girl. Uh fucking. But so they I mean this movie's been out for a while, but like they discover John Malkovich's CIA memoirs, and they think it's shit. Yeah. And then Manolo finds it on the women's floor.
SPEAKER_03She's lying on the floor there. She's lying there on the floor. And then there's a great bit hole where Brad Pitt's like, Manolo, you didn't find this on the floor. And he goes, I found it on the floor, just lying there. And he goes, Yeah, no, but you didn't. Because he's trying to talk about it. This movie's fucking great, dude.
SPEAKER_02This movie is pretty great, bro. Okay. I give it to you.
SPEAKER_03Funnier than Hail Caesar.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you're fool you're a fucking fool, bro. Really? I was dying laughing, bro. I was dying laughing.
SPEAKER_03You think Hail Caesar's funnier than Burn After Reading?
SPEAKER_02I think they're the same level funny, no, honestly. I think they're the same. Okay. I think because we were both cracking up laughing last time we were watching it, and then I was just cracking up more laughing at this one, because you just didn't get everything in this one. That's true. Like I said, validly validable. There's just visual gags. Like I said, I think that's like to me, I think they're like, 'cause it's also like I said, some of the things I ask when I watch a movie, or at least when I watch a movie for the bajillion time, like, why are they showing us this? Or what's in the screen, because what you gotta see. And it's like they literally have a statue pointing, him in the middle, and he's next to just the bottom half of legs in a dick. I don't know. And then it's also just he's doing the conscious, he has the crisis of the soul, which is like the the George Cleeney's Roman character is supposed to have in the movie. Yeah. And it's funny because it's just him going through the Roman set, being having the the uh crisis of consciousness that the Roman soldier is supposed to have, and I'm just like, he is the man having the It's like the thing!
SPEAKER_00Exactly, it's the cinemas.
SPEAKER_03So uh you mentioned that visual gag in this one, and then Burn After Reading, there's There's a lot of visual gags. There's a bit of a visual gag where even Bracken is. But uh after um after it's already established, I'm pretty sure that uh Tilda Swinton and George Clooney are messing around. Yeah, there is I think it's Osborne he's watching Family Feud. Okay. And the three answers are she's married, she has a boyfriend, and she's pregnant. And to me, that's a gag or some kind of visual video visual audio that that's Tilda Swinton right there. She has a boy, she has a husband, she has a boyfriend, and I think she's pregnant.
SPEAKER_00Oh okay. Well that's some extra shit too. There you go, bro. Just the little moments what they put in there, you know.
SPEAKER_03I don't I mean, I'm not saying that's what happened. I haven't heard anything on it.
SPEAKER_02Like I haven't heard anything about my dickhead there either. But yeah, I get it. It's just the point.
SPEAKER_03I I could also see that dickhead thing just being like a funny visual gag, like I said, like just the pointing to the crotch. Yeah, yeah. That cause it pants because it works out that way. Exactly. That's right.
SPEAKER_02That's why it's funny. But he's in between. What does it mean? Or maybe you're right, it has nothing to do with him being there, it's just maybe to show him looking all melancholy, and while they're doing that, there's just the dude pointing at the crotch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um I thought you were about to go on another tangent about the like a show on the background of TV of a Cohen Brother thing, because the way you did that for No Country for Old Men. Oh, yeah. And then I was just like, oh wait, where is this going? But then I was like, okay. But now I want to know if she's pregnant at all. But she does deal with kids terribly. So it's like she's like a pregnant child's doctor, a pediatrician or something. And she would be a hammer to that little child.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, it's dude. Now I gotta watch it again.
SPEAKER_03It's uh Nah, you don't have to.
SPEAKER_02No. But it is leaving uh Netflix soon, I think.
SPEAKER_03Oh, is uh the Big Littleski's leaving soon too?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think both of them. I have it though. I do have the big oldowski, but I do not have burn after reading. I have burned after reading.
SPEAKER_03Only physical though, so I have to fucking find it.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Uh is all like what do you mean I find it? You don't have like your stuff. Do you have your stuff in a bookcase or shelves or displayed or no?
SPEAKER_03Not on display. I have maybe like 150, 200 movies, maybe? Maybe around that area. So all still in case you don't do the book thing and then talk about it.
SPEAKER_02Never?
SPEAKER_03Never.
SPEAKER_02I get it. But storage or I might have to, honestly. Storage in space.
SPEAKER_03But um, I don't know, I feel like I tuckered myself out talking about sinners and everything.
SPEAKER_02You did, I told you, bro. I was like, you sure you want to go with the Brandon Direeting?
SPEAKER_03That's Well, I mean, it's something you don't even you don't like that much. So stop, because you didn't want to do that. No, no, no, no. It's nothing wrong with you not loving this movie as much as I love this movie. That's fair. I just don't really have much to say on it, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Okay, or maybe we rewatch and take actual notes. Because we did to be I'll say to be fair, we did just watch Hail Caesar, and then I just went off on the notes.
SPEAKER_03That's true.
SPEAKER_02Like if we watch Burn After Reading, with the biggest.
SPEAKER_03But we already did that for me for No Country Roman. We're not gonna do this for Burn After Reading.
SPEAKER_02Okay, then we don't want to. Yeah. But just talk about it still. Because I know we're still kind of doing a Cohen Brothers kick. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I feel like honestly, I do want to talk about Lobigablowski.
SPEAKER_02I would love to talk about that. Yeah. Because again, like I said, that movie's like fundamental to me. Like, I still don't it's outside of us trying to say which one is our special characters, our favorite Cohen's to me. If that makes sense. Because like I said, it might be Hail Caesar.
SPEAKER_03And I think you should watch Blood Temple. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And again, I still just kind of want to rewatch all of it.
SPEAKER_03We gotta rewatch Fargo. We didn't rewatch Fargo until we rewatch Big Like. Maybe we'll do that next time.
SPEAKER_02Let's rewatch Fargo. And or maybe we could come correct with Big Lobowski already.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I just re-watched Big Lobowski.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, that's why I have the lines down when I got it. Really? Yeah. Like the way I was having little Hail Caesar, I have the lines down for that one too.
SPEAKER_03There's a bit in uh the Big Lebowski where he's dunking his head underwater and he goes like, let me look down there one more time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It might still be down there, man. Let me look again. I love that. At least somehow's broken. That's another fucking great line. Dude, wait for the soundboard for the Big Lebowski. Oh my goodness. Dude, now I'm just thinking about Vic Lebowski. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's Mr. Lebowski there with the first lady. Yes, bro. That's when she was filled with the first lady of the nation. He's just so fucking good. Yes, Mr. Lebowski is disabled. Dude, it's just that the sound worker. You do that really well, I think. Because I know he just I've seen that movie a lot, bro. Because I know he does those awkward laughs. He's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then like he does like twice, or he says, dude, it's just anytime a rug is biturated upon in this fair city, I have to replace it. It's my dude, dude. I was like, I already know that. I fucking hate that guy.
SPEAKER_03No, but the the big Lebowski? The Big Lowski? The actual the Lebowski. Actual Jeff Lebowski, yeah. That's fine. Okay, anyway. The Big Lebowski is the one with the money in the mass. It's not the dude. Okay. He's the dude. I figured the big Lebowski is the dude.
SPEAKER_02Rewatch. Because he's like, I'm not him, man. That's him. He's the Big Lebowski. He talks about that. To one of the people roughing him up at some point, because I know it happens a couple times. But yeah. And that's like I'm the dude, man. I'll do the Reno. I'll do I'll do our things out there. But you gotta do the game. I have that movie, bro. Like, it's in here. I'm telling you it's there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, sounds like seems like it. That's cool.
SPEAKER_02I hate the evils, man, and I had a bad day. What? Get the fuck out of my cab. That's the part I alright. Like, are you sure?
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_02Uh get out of Malibu, dead beat. Get out of Malibu. Oh yeah. The bums lost. The bums lost, sir. Get a job, yeah. Ah, yeah, dude, I'm ready for that. But again, okay, so back to all this Cohen talking hype. We're still not done with it. We still gotta definitely talk Cohen's. Um I love that you saw sinners. I guess if you see anything else that pops up you could talk about, I know we're definitely gonna have to talk about the Odyssey record.
SPEAKER_03Maybe not Sferad 2 if you like it that much, and I like it that much.
SPEAKER_02Honestly, I have only seen it once. So I gotta rewatch. Okay. Honestly, I also think it wasn't in the $5 bin, so I think I paid like $50 for that one. So I was like, but yeah, but I was like, alright, I guess I'm gonna do it, but like, I don't know. I I do like I'll be honest, like, I haven't seen the Vivich by him, by Robert E. So you would you could watch it. I think so. I think I might have to. And uh I did see Lighthouse. I liked it. I liked Lighthouse a lot. I love that. I love the fucking The Northmen. I want I would like you to watch that just to know.
SPEAKER_03I already seen the Northmen.
SPEAKER_02You did? I thought you said you didn't see it, bro.
SPEAKER_03No, I haven't watched Nosferatu. Okay, that was the one then. Okay. Did you like Northman? Yeah! Yeah I liked it. I liked The Lighthouse better. And I like the Witch better. Of course you would. I love your brain. I think I like those in the movie. Mmm. The Witch is a little Ah!
SPEAKER_00You bilge encrested Bio Dude, and then that whole speech is like your steak was good. Yeah, okay, the steak was good.
SPEAKER_02And those two getting the P together is fucking Damn bro.
unknownI can't wait for tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03You wanna talk about that movie?
SPEAKER_02Odyssey? Wait, which one? I just said I can't wait for tomorrow. Oh. Because I was just because in my head I was thinking about.
SPEAKER_03I thought you were I because you were just talking, we were just talking about Robert. We were about Robert Eggers. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh well that too. But uh in my head I was thinking about Robert Pattinson Tangent, how he's in the Odyssey, and that's something I can't wait for tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03So we get these beggars out of here.
SPEAKER_02Dude, and you're gonna finally get to see that scene. But I've already seen that. I love that it's ruined for you because of the fucking how funny all those memes are, but like he's really.
SPEAKER_03I feel like that's that that's not that's forced, bro.
SPEAKER_02That shit is forced. How hard he hits it? No, no, no, the memes. Oh, the meme? Kinda. Kinda they are, but sometimes but it's just I think it's for the people that see it, they're like, oh my god, haha, that is kind of funny to get to see it again. Because like that kinda happens. No, I I don't even go in there, but that little boomhauer moment right there. You did? I was just I'm not gonna spoil it or anything. But he's just that, but it's just again like in the theater, it's a quick moment too where he's like, somebody get these bears out of here. And it's just like this. Like now that it's been easy by now.
SPEAKER_03That delivery of that line outside of the mean sounds pretty good. I'm not gonna lie. Like the delivery of the line sounds like that. I love that. But I mean, I also love Robert Panson, so it's kinda like he can do no wrong. I love that. I love that you button's gonna fucking RP.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Uh so yeah, we'll continue with some Cohen stuff. Some Odyssey stuff. Um Where are you in Game of Thrones ready?
SPEAKER_03Um Caitlin. Catelyn, sorry. Yeah, uh met with Stan no, not Stannis. Who's the other guy? Renley? Yep. Um, and then Stannis came down, and they haven't shown after. That was like the end of the chapter. So.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, since uh uh Pocopia and Marvel Token came out, I have been playing video games.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the Marvel Token game came out already? Does Deadpool everything you thought he'd be?
SPEAKER_03No, I don't really like using Deadpool. But his references are cool. That's cool. Are there cool stuff? What do you mean? I don't know. Are there any other Easter eggs? It's a fun game, though. I'm sure there is, but it's a fun game, I like it. Pokopia is my fucking game of the year, it's my favorite. I love it so much. I love that. Come closer. Tell us about Poco. What can I say? It's just a fucking it just makes me happy. It's so adorable. That's actually really good. It's the best, probably the best Pokemon game ever made. Wow. Wow. Wow. And the DLC is dude, like the DLC is three maps gonna be added. They just added the first one. So the next two are later on in the future. And this one's completely underwater essentially. So it's like they added a whole new feature where you're underwater and you could build stuff now. Underwater. Underwater. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And it's just like Does that mean there's like more water type Pokemon type shit and stuff?
SPEAKER_03Oh, yes, all all new water types added. They added, I want to say I haven't compl I did actually I did, I lied. I did just complete the Pokedex today. I think it's fifty new Pokemon they just added.
SPEAKER_02Damn, boy, and you already completed it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um and it's really cool, you build habitats, so like you build like pieces of grass.
SPEAKER_02Extra more like lore shit, like the way they talked about the pale Pikachu gave out all his electricity.
SPEAKER_03Oh, um little charm of those. Not like that, but there is some more world building. Cause like the there's like an a a calamity that hits the world, and so the humans and you find out in the base game, the humans work on a way to get off planet. So that's what humans are gone now. Humans there's some the way it ends is after you fix up in the town enough and you meet like Mewtwo and shit and you and you build the spaceship or you do the lighthouse, it ends up being that lighthouse is actually a spaceship, and it goes off into space, and you kinda you can take pictures on your phone on the with your Pokedex, essentially in the in the game. No, no, no, of you of you, like your character. Yeah. And so you can take pictures and the kind of the last thing you do for the story is you send uh you pick a picture to send out to space. And so it ends with like a cute little cartoon cutscene of like the credits rolling, and I think it's a spaceship or whatever, it's flying, and then it reaches for the humanoid humanoid people in spacesuits, and they look at the picture.
SPEAKER_02Wow, and they're like, Well, our Pokemon are still alive.
SPEAKER_03We just left them all behind. And so the whole point is that like the uh prof Professor Tangrove is like, oh, if you if we build up these cities again, the humans will return because they'll realize like society is back or whatever. And so that's why you build. But like it's actually kind of dark, yeah, but it's also like super adorable. Just because like Pokemon are like bulbs like bulbasaur's fucking cool. You know, all of them are cute, really sad and break in a fucked up way.
SPEAKER_02Like they're just gonna keep slaving away, hoping they're masters.
SPEAKER_03No, but they're so happy though, dude. Like they jump rope. They're happy because there's no humans there. No, they're happy because like there's others around us, like the environment's getting built. It's just a an all like the the the lore to me, like the back the world building is kind of sad if you think about it.
SPEAKER_02And the game that's happening is good.
SPEAKER_03It's like handled in a very wholesome, child-friendly way. And I've loved I've always loved Pokemon, and it's just like just what they've done with this game is so special. Is it peak? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I would like you to get a switch too, so you can't. Oh okay, this might be fine. That's a lot. That's a lot to ask. Yeah, that's a good idea. So or ask of you, so.
SPEAKER_02When I do though, I will get this game. And I will help you build your palette town, brother. Cool, man. You get to build stuff out of pallets.
SPEAKER_03No, your palette town.
SPEAKER_01But you said palette. This is bad. Bad for Pokemon everywhere. Bad for Pokemon everywhere. Pika Pika. Papika Pika Papika Pika. Pikachu's dog each other well.
SPEAKER_03But in Pikachu. But in Pika Speech, alright.
SPEAKER_02Is that its official title? Pika Speech? No. Pikachu's. Yeah. In in Pikachanish.
SPEAKER_03Pika knees. You already say that? I didn't say that. Okay. That's okay. Sorry, I'm a little tired.
SPEAKER_02That's okay, but we can't. We said like twenty more minutes and we're there now. Yeah. Cap it. Seven o'clock.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Alright. Great talk. Fuck yeah, bro.
